The Design Of The Busse Combat Push Dagger Rages On!!! . . . And . . . We Need Your Help Once Again!!!

Welp, if it is over 3 inches it's another safe queen. I really wish I could carry some of my busse knives more often, but have to buy other brands. At least they look cool on display. Local county laws just make it illegal to carry any fixed blade 3 inches and more.

My choices are.

1) 2.9 dagger
2) 3.0 dagger/single edge
3) 3.0 single edge

And on personal note, the bigger something is is heavier it is the bulkier it is, the less likely it is to be on you when you need it.

But, I'm also willing to consider other people's laws. So I edited to add 3.0 SE. I can sharpen the swedge, but I'd rather have more people have access to something they can carry.

Dreams do come true, my friend! 😊

This measurement of the 3.0 is prior to sharpening.👍

I'm speechless, and really have no words. That's just awesome from purely practical perspective.

Would hurt so much more if the 3.0 gets out-voted now, knowing what could have been.
Volk,

Have no worries, my friend. So far, the 3.0 has the highest number of total votes across the board!

Heh, fingers crossed. I'm just super excited at the prospect of finally being able to EDC a piece of infi.

why not 3.0 single edges for the "restricted" ones

and 4.0 daggers for the wide open west :)

I was going to say the same thing, but don't think I got as much pull hehe.

Both would be great, you know, have knife will travel! For the time you need to go to the restricted zone.

Honestly, if I just leave the county line I can edc a moab or ak47, problem is I don't often leave that way. And then there are city ordinances, zone restrictions, no longer being allowed to fly commercial with one...(I'll concede that sub 3" inch blade might not fix the last one)

Ideally, I'd love it to be offered in a similar way to smatchet, same dagger shape but you specify if you'd want false edge sharpened or not. And in 2 sizes.

On a separate note. Something not given enough credit. I absolutely love the final handle design. How cool would it be to have LE version with the old school black paper checkered design?

BOSC-ID Push Dagger 1 of 50 run with ram horn or mammoth tooth handles.

Only 49 of 50 available to the rest of the Hogs since I automatically get dibs on one for having the idea. Actually only 47 available, I claim three.

Completely sympathetic, would love to hear some discussion on how to change these ridiculous laws and not just how to comply with them. Where I live I can legally carry firearms, open or concealed, but am limited to only open carry of a 3.5" knife. Just about had a heart attack recently at the Municipal Court when trying to pay an employees tickets charged to the company and I had to check my Spyderco Shaman unexpectedly.

Usually, I'd say legality of these things are quite a bit off topic. In this narrow case I do think a discussion might be warranted in order to make the best choice.

I'm not suggesting that we attempt to make something that will confirm to all laws everywhere, as that basically means a busse blunt toothpick which would still be banned somewhere. But, this particular design might offer a usable in its intended purpose tool, that can be made widely accessible.

Unfortunately our legal system is oftentimes driven by politics. While there is case law that interprets the law, laws themselves are passed or repealed by people who run for office. Supporting a repeal of a dumb law often gives your opponents a freebie. "Weak on crime" argument. So instep of committing to costly fight you can do nothing. And dumb legal interactions continue.

I mean, here I can carry, a moab if I can fashion it into a folder concealed. But, any fixed blade has to be open carried, even if it is like 1 or 2 inches long.

This issue is compounded by flat out adversarial nature of politics. Where it has gone away from from getting something done, to just petty chipping away. Just look at pistol brace thing. It's pretty ridiculous if you think about itn neither side got what they wanted.

Reason I meantion all of this is to point out that if you try to force places to change their laws by boycotting them, or refusing to comply, you are basically one less voice in the chorus and the other side gets louder drowning out any debate. Saying let's make all these daggers 4" long in order to force people to vote your way, simply doesn't work, as people who want those 4 inch daggers are already for making those legal.

One knife isn't going to swing politics/laws one way or the other. It just comes down to how many people can have something.

Further, think how many people who voted 3.5" or 4" would still buy a 3" vs how many people will get a know the other way around. How important is the blade length?

Then consider the intended use, how much would it suffer from shortened blade length?

When I read others asking for a single edges design due to their laws. I edited my choices. Especially that it's easy for me or most people to have the false edge sharpened.

Sorry for the long post. Cheers if you got this far.
