I just got back my Hinderer Spearpoint XM-18 in 20CV from Josh at Razor Edge Knives. I asked to get a high flat grind done, as this has been a heavy user and I wanted it to slice better. He did a fantastic job.
I sent him a picture of what I was thinking, asking if he could grind up along line B here:

and it was back to me in about three weeks. It is the sharpest knife I have ever handled. It is .010" behind the edge and 15dps. I refer you to his Google+ page to see how he ground it:

I used it on packages, food, and arm hair until today, and I took it to the Christmas tree and got rid of some of the lower branches:

The knife cut through so cleanly and quickly, I was just giddy. In fact, it cut through so well, I used too much force and banged up the edge a bit (hit the metal screw and dinged it), but it sharpened back up to perfect in about 2 minutes, and it is the sharpest edge I have ever put on a knife. No doubt that is due to the new geometry.

It is a lot of fun and very practical now. The blade is noticeably lighter and flips even better than it did before. I highly recommend razor Edge Knives to anyone thinking of getting work done.

Thanks Josh!

Guys,
If i'm looking into XM-18 3.5, which steel would be the best?

I prefer the 20CV, but s35VN is not a bad steel at all. I haven't seen RHK use CTS-XHP for a really long time. I don't believe he has used other steels in his production XM-18s.

Josh does an excellent job of working with customers and explaining the various options. He can actually make one of these thick sharpened pry-bars into a useful cutting tool. [emoji6]He did a full regrind for me and modified my own XM-18 Spearpoint into a Spanto with a thinner edge.

Josh is an excellent craftsman. He really makes these overly thick blades into slicing machines! He reground my Emerson Mini Roadhouse into a V grind spanto style, nice and thin. The knife went from one i didnt care for, to one ill never get rid of now. Anyone with a prybar type blade would be well served by having Josh work his magic on it.
