If I had my stone with me, I sharpened the blade of my Stanley knife.
Those blades came sharp, but held an edge poorly. Especially if I was cutting something like asphalt shingles.
Giving the edge a few licks with the stone was as fast as changing the blade.
Cheaper, too. You can go through a lot of blades, shingling a roof.
