The Doctor is in!

Since we have a Dr knife thread going here are some oldies but goodies that are going to be packed up and sent to a maker. (Once I get off my bohunkus and do it.) :)

Gus,
Which of those posted have the solid cap? So that it could be used as a pill or medicine crusher, as to eliminate getting in to the liners.

Jim,
The bottom three have solid caps.
The Torey (slim pearl)
Remmington (Bone)
and Ulster (serpentine pearl).

It looks kinda tough to do to me. All three are a little different, but in general the caps are wedged with the wide part of the wedge holding the springs down contacting flat to the non-extended springs about 1/4 of an inch from the cap and tapering up to the top of the knife. The end pins hold that whole mess together and they are also milled in the middle to hold the liner.

Imagine a right triangle about 3/16th of an inch think with a roundish cap on the side and a milled slot for the liner with the base of the triangle holding the springs down.

I only know three makers today that do that Ryu, Joel and Richard.

Holy mother of pearl! Some fantastic custom and antique Docs here. I particularly like the ones with pill-crusher caps.
