The Dreaded Pin Crack

Is cracking more common on GECs than other marques ? My White Bone Beer Scout was a user but never banged down or dropped but it developed cracks on the pins on both sides and each side of the shackle too. I glued them and they've remained stable.
I only have one GEC with bone covers, an 828318 Dixie Stockman with "Copperhead Jigged Bone" covers. Never dropped that I know of.
(I am not the original owner, it was gifted to me by a very generous anonymous member.) It has been a user since in my possession.
I have not spotted any cracks ... yet. (knock on wood ... Speaking of which ... Does particle board count as wood, or do I need to knock on one of the trees? I don't "think" any of the furniture here is comprised of solid wood boards.)

The Zap brand glues are very good. If you glue it you need to be very careful. A thin CA glue will bind to everything, including metals. If you get it on the mainspring it will, at least, seize and need to be broke free. Personally, I wouldn't do anything until the gap grows larger, as I'm not sure there's enough space to allow the glue to penetrate at this point. Should the piece come all the way off it can be reattached. Ideally it would not get that far.

Once dry the glue won't accept the dye. However you can put some dye in the glue prior to drying. I would still dye first and then superglue. It's very common for ironwood to have small lil hairline cracks as a knife is made. These can usually be made invisible by wet sanding with superglue. Ya might try that too.
