The easiest way NOT to get a free ESEE Knife

The internet has made some youtube movie stars. Guys like Nutnfancy (whose vids I do like) get millions of views on all their videos. There are guys out there who think if they have a youtube channel with millions of views that companies will give them gear to get it seen by those millions of viewers, and a lot of companies probably do that.

Others I’m sure are willing to post up lengthy reviews on the forums on how well gear performs and how great it is, etc. It just doesn’t seem like Jeff and Mike care about that. Sell a good product to people who will use it and the reviews will come in on their own.

Some of them just pick the wrong companies to expect free stuff from.

Speaking as someone who writes a fair amount of gear reviews and has been given gear free of charge to review...

I have never asked for a product. I have had had several products offered to me (I turned down several and I have accepted several). If you put in the work and do a good job reviewing the products that you have purchased on your own, you might find that there are people willing to give you products to review (or maybe not). Many companies simply don't need you in order to sell their products.

It isn't as if there aren't already ways to get your hands on ESEE products to review. Jeff and Mike are generous with the giveaways and there are even occasional "pass-arounds" which seem like the perfect opportunity for someone to review a product. But, then again, that requires some patience, foresight, and a bit of work which is harder than asking for something for nothing.

I don't see a problem with accommodating all requests for free knives - just pay the $150 shipping and handling fee per knife first, plus the $50 special handling fee for over-sized packages (each blade over 12" total) and $75 for folders (haz mat fee for bearing lube)
and the delivery date will be the first of Octember...
:D

People amaze me, the way it works is everyone buys a knife or two, then the product will go down in price because the manufacturer is selling more and able to produce more in bulk. So people, everyone buy a knife and they will go down in price and more models will follow. Its called calpitalism. This advice is the only thing your entitled to for Free. (p.s. the views expressed in this rant are not meant to offend, but if you are offended then you may need to get a grip, Have a great day, now go cut something).

My dog got its leg caught in our Blendtec blender. We don't have any money to get her fitted with a prosthetic, but I'm an expert whittler and could surely make her a new leg out of cocobolo wood.

Unfortunately all of my knives are too weak to whittle cocobolo wood.

If you could see it in your kind hearts to send me a Junglass, I would like to level out her other three legs to make life easier on her.

I will post a full review of the process to BF and YouTube for you with a clear endorsement of the product for all to see.

Please convex the edge for optimal chopping.

Heck, I'll send you back one of my ESEE knives for free.

Just kidding! I'm keeping mine! :D

You don't like the email requests, eh? So, instead, I'll ask in this thread:

"Can you bring me the knife of Rambo?"

"You mean the ESEE 5?"

"Yes! That's the one! Can you get it?"

So, I can't have that free knife then? Too bad, I guess. :p

I can't believe how many people try to get knives for free by just asking. I've seen numerous occasions where people will get a used knife and ask for the warranty to replace it as it looks used, too.

well if that's the case can I at least have my 44cents returned for my postage costs??

I could only imagine, I would completely understand your frustration especially when you have enough emails to deal with..

You should send someone your folder with residue on it, in hopes they'll get popped for paraphernalia, or possession etc.

That'll teach 'em..:D

This is America...we are entitled to free knives, healthcare and your hard earned cash.

Look at how people vote. It is obvious that is what they believe. Soo, PM me for my address.

You got my vote!!!!

Yeah yeah Jeff, whatever...You know, I like the idea of getting my FREE knife delivered in person.... :D

I could do an article on using it to stir my morning coffee.

So when are you coming to Australia to hand deliver my pink Izula? :)

Like Matt, every bit of gear I have reviewed, I have paid for it....can not believe the cheekiness of some people.

Other people ask for free knives? And here I am spending my own hard earned money to buy mine, boy do I fee like a sucker!

Gundy, you just identified an under served niche in the survival goods market - coffee stirrers! ESEE would be wise to start prototyping the new stirrers right away.

Just to be clear, I haven't paid for everything that I have reviewed. I have never asked for an item for free. I have either bought the item or had it offered to me (I indicate in the review when something was provided for free).

Did you send them a link to some of the skills contests and tell them if they want one to get off their ass? :D

You guys give away more knives than any company I’ve ever encountered. It’s not like we’re talking $12 Moras here either. I don’t think I can say “thank you” enough to show how much I appreciate all the chances we have to win knives around here. So, I try to use the knives as much as possible, build as many skills as possible, and pass the info on to as many people as possible.

I would not forward them any link to anything they could possibly win. That would take away from the folks who put in the effort to participate on the forum and actually buy ESEE knives. Why give these people even an iota of consideration.

It takes a level of unmitigated gall that I simply cannot comprehend to ask for something free.

I’m just sorry you have to deal with that kind of silliness during your already busy enough day.

It just simply amazes me that people have the balls (and stupidity) to actually ask that. Do they really believe you would say yes and ship the knife????

As far as reviews go, the person doing the review holds a lot more credibility if I know they purchased the item. Whenever I read a review about an item that was provided for review, there's always that smell of BS in the air.

Damn I really don't get that? I mean I'm having a hassle with the customs and I'll have to go Italy and cough up bigger buck than normally at a retailer (ok maybe I'll go to Germany or Austria) but I'm gonna be damn proud of it.
Some ppl just never cease to amaze me. and that's the reason why every day I like animals more and more
