We started doing the Elf on the Shelf last year when my little ones were 3 and 1, and they got a kick out of finding him in a new location every morning. We are doing it again this year and it's great. When my 2 year old daughter is being bad my 4 year old son says that Frosty (the name they came up with for the elf, I know I know but it wasn't my choice) is watching her and it does actually help them to behave slightly better. Overall, it's just a nice and fun thing to do with little ones.

Hey now, i happen to think frosty is a very cool name!:eek::eek::cool::cool::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Oh yeah Elf on a shelf has always been a family tradition for us.
Now he’s just a decoration for the holiday, but still around lol.

That elf carries a great knife!:D:thumbsup:

My sister in law has a big collection of elves that she sets up in a beautiful display every Christmas, and her grandkids love it.
It would be better if it was a 10" Jackhammer:D:thumbsup:

We definitely keep the tradition around here . We purchased one 3 years ago when my youngest daughter was born. My 5 year old at the time named him "Jerry"! (Lol :D I just realised this now as I'm typing this in) We tell my daughters that Santa sends him down from the north pole every November, to monitor their behavior before Christmas lol. It keeps my eldest on track. The youngest just gets a kick out of seeing him pop up in different spots around the house lol. We wake up every morning and switch him around the place before waking her for school :). To me is the cutest thing, my eldest "TRULY" believes in him. She won't even let us touch him, because she believes he'll lose his magic lol. He's always hiding in the girls toys, looking out the window waiting on my eldest to get back home from school, he checks her homework and does so many other things lol. He's become part of the family around here. Funny thing is my wife just ordered a female version (still waiting for the delivery). I'll try and snap a few pics later on of "Jerry" in his funny antics.

This wasn't a thing when I was a kid.. but I'm old. The doll itself reminds me of some ornaments my mom had in the '60's...and also reminds me of that elf who wanted to be a dentist..

My granddaughters absolutely love it.. (3 and 5 years old). The 3 year old totally believes...the 5 year old seems to be developing some doubts. ( I hope she doesn't ask me about it...I would never lie to the kid...and also advise that if I thought for a minute that thing could move on its own, and had magic...it should be shown the door...with extreme prejudice..:))

My daughter sent me this pic just yesterday..apparently this elf is waiting for a ride to cash in the scratch-off..

That's fun stuff. This must be a newer thing, if it was around when resingirl was little, I KNOW my wife would have bought it.

They wrote the book and got it started in 2004. Although it does resemble decorations m grandmother had

We have ( my wife) done this with our kids for what seems to be the last 5-10 years . You can get really creative with this guy If you want.
It’s funny my youngest just reminded my wife the other night that “Elfis” should be here tomorrow morning. We totally forgot. My wife spent the next three hours in the attic and basement looking for him. Lmao!!

This is where Elfis ended up this morning . On his sled my daughter made a couple years ago. Tomorrow morning hopefully he’ll be somewhere else. A658418E-81A3-43A6-97A9-E25CABE814B3.jpeg

My wife got ours a couple of years ago. My boys (6, 4 and 3) named him Elroy Chippy:D We forget to move him and he moves about once a week I think. Unfortunately, it hasn't done anything to improve the kids behavior:rolleyes: but they like it when they see him in a new spot.
