So I have a Bushraptor on its way . . . I've read in many different threads and noticed that many of you state that you have one (or more!) and that you really like it. BUT, there aren't any reviews that I could find. Could those of you that have Bushraptors share your likes, dislikes, uses, and of course pictures?! What was Andy's original intent with this blade?

I'll add a pic of mine once it gets here.

my simple review: The bushraptor is everything you love about the hiking buddy plus a little extra. You get a long blade, but its also a wider blade as well. I find it a little more balanced than the HB, but also just as light (its very hard to tell the difference (especially with a TT). The blade on the BR is very underrated (granted i say that alot on this forum). I have to caveat this with I LOVE A WHARNIE. I'll sacrifice the "stabby" i'm missing out on for the added flexibility of the BR blade. The BR is an excellent outdoors knife; general bushcrafting is a breeze, but if youre gonna baton with this little guy, the drop at teh front can make it difficult. I really enjoy the BR in the kitchen and on the hunt. This knife excels at carving flesh (sounds so brutal, but its true). Ive made quick work with some general processing with the BR, but i've seen it really shine in the kitchen. Meat, veggies, potatoes, you name it, the BR has destroyed it. It chops, slices, minces, and quarters like a dream. This is one overlooked blade that i personally cant get enough of. Check out my Apocalypse trio thread for proof.

Have fun with yours, and get more and more excited til it comes.

mistwalker did one 4-6 months ago; its out there keep searching ;)

I looked some more and still no avail, if anybody finds it before me could you post a link?

Thank you for that. That's some good insight. Only thing missing are some pics! Maybe when you get time you could post some?! I was hoping to give it some kitchen time, so I really appreciate your enthusiasm there! I got mine from KSF and I'm not sure if it was TT or not. I'm hoping so, but either way it's going to be exciting in a few days. Come on Saturday . . . hurry up and get here already ;)

Pretty much what DCaggie said -- I have one that I carry with my camp in a piggyback rig (replacing a BC karda); in 1/8"TT it is an amazing slicer and "detail work knife". The sheepsfoot design makes it sheeple friendly (no pun intended :D), and the profile can be easily EDC'ed. IMO, I actually like it more than the HB (I have both), as the slightly longer blade lends itself to additional chores in the camp kitchen.

Dcaggie summed it up perfectly. Mine is in kitchen prep rotation and it's a slicing trick!

Really good to know! Kitchen goodness is happy. Sheeple friendly is good since I live in a land of no guns or knives. Also, I've been very curious about the HB, but it sounds like I've got a better one on its way. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the pic. Looks like a great slicer. I'm excited to put mine to use.

Some pics as requested!

Its the one on the right in both pics

Very nice! I love the Camp Nessie too. Thanks for posting the pics. Any chance you could post some more pics comparing the Bushraptor to the Woodchuck?

@Imari55: Repost from the trio thread, but here's a few recent pics for 'ya

@ xxwjtxx -- I did see those pics the other day. Looking at the top one, I didn't realize it was the Bushraptor. I guess it was the lighting. That is one awesome setup!

I don't have one but I can definitely envision one. I'm a wharnie junky. My first knife was a wharncliffe and operates probably somewhat close to how the BR would operate. Mine has zero belly, and I think the tiny bit of belly would be pretty useful.

Here's my first knife-

Not nearly as nice as a Fiddleback (believe me, I've compared :D ) but it gets used.

Great now I need a BR on top of everything else!

Hey Strig, if you get a BR in Emerald Burlap, you won't even have to make a sheath for it. By the way, that sheath is looking pretty fine. Did you make it? I see influences of Tal and Rick in it.

Cool knife Strig! I hope to be able to try and make one someday. It won't be here in Bolivia though. It will have to be one of our furloughs back in the US. I'm excited to get my hands on the Bushraptor tomorrow. A girl is bringing it down with her. I definitely am happy about the belly to it, gonna make it great in the kitchen. I was hoping that would be the case and from the other posts here, now I know it will be!

Come on all you closet Bushraptor owners . . . share with us your pics and like and dislikes!

I absolutely love the Bushraptor design. The only issue I ran into with getting one of the first ones is that I really need thicker than 1/8 for my uses. I think 5/32 will be best, and could even really like a tapered 3/16 one :) It's a great edc utility knife that works really well in the kitchen.

Here are a few pics

Hey Mist, a while back I sharked a Bushraptor with 5/32" CPM 154. I have not put the calipers on it to see if it is indeed 5/32", or is wider like the 1/8" CPM 154 stock that Andy uses. But it surely is a stout little knife. I counted the other day, and I currently have 5 Bushraptors, from 3/32" 01 to 5/32" stainless. Hopefully I can get some pictures up soon.

What?!!! Let's see some of that goodness! A stainless would be really nice for the kitchen.
