The elusive Chuck Buck

You don't think that could maybe point to it having been a plain Cherrywood series done for SMKW ?
maybe not since there was no label on the box, but it wasn't in a Chairman or icthus box after all.

They stopped sending their catalogs to me about 5 years ago, and the last SMKW exclusives I actually remember were the dyed smooth bone 110 or 112's and the long nail pull 110's.
I only started getting the SMKW catalogs in 2009 or 2010 ( saved 'em all till about 2 years ago too ) and the only Buck I really payed attention to was the bald eagle 525 gent that I never pulled the trigger on.
I can't deny that there might have been a plain cherrywood release but I don't see any remnants of it on places like Worthpoint. There are a lot of slipjoints from SMKW that I want now including the blue and green smooth bone Chinese sets, the rest of the Icthus set, the yellow sets from the 90s, and I believe there was some special jigged bone and even stag sets exclusive to SMKW. I think I only have the stag and jigged bone ones that Buck sold directly.

If you still have the catalogs and take some pictures of the Buck items exclusive to SMKW that would be so cool.

I got rid of them a couple years ago sadly.
it was time to start getting rid of stuff, and I was PO'd that they stopped sending me the catalogs even after I requested them.

That is ironic because they send me catalogs but I don't remember requesting them. Also, I saw a bladeforums post just now where someone was saying that a catalog had the Icthus shield for 110, 303, and 309. So if that is all in the set, I have the 303 and 309, so I guess it is complete.

I just realized Chucks name is underlined there on the guarantee slip.
I was thinking maybe the wanted to point out that the knife was sold 3 months after he died hoping that would add value or something, but that wasn't even in the pictures.

I guess whoever originally bought it probably just did that for their own reference or something

There is one more Chairman Series knife out there. It is the 302 Prototype, no shield and with a 301 blade. These were offered as a Web Special build out. I think there were originally around 70 of these offered. I also have the Yellow prototype. Buck # 0301B02-B.

so would this one just be a weirdly edited catalog / stock photo...etc or a actual different version?

Can't say for sure as I only bought one regular production 302 in Black valox. The one in the ad looks just like the prototype but with a 302 (Correct} blade and the year stamp matches the prototype. I would say that it is a 1st year production 302 in the ad. Edit::: There are a couple of these swimming around the internet.

the Knife Center one is just the normal, no shield 302. I think the OP was saying the other version has 301 stamped on it. Even though I think it's the same blade as the 301, the production version is stamped 302.
Yes I understand, I didn't know there was a normal no shield chairman 302.
