Hawk 590 and The Fal'er conspired to give me a really lovely set of Tiger Maple scales for the Tweeners.....

This has inspired me to do a "project" knife.........The project is still taking shape in my ancient cranium but,
these scales are incredibly beautiful and a plain jane 16 is not gonna set them off the way it oughtta....

Suggestions are welcome........

Ethan

moose is gonna post the pix soon

Strip it and polish it until you can see your face in the blade. Then add a skystorm or other leather sheath. Mmmmmm....

Wow, those are really beautiful. I don't really think stripped and polished will set them off right. Here's what I'd do... if I could (can't don't have the skills myself). First strip, buff out all the grind marks, and then mirror polish. Then get a hot blue done, not a cold blue, but a hot blue, deep dark black, like the S&W custom shop guns from the 60's, real presentation grade. Then I'd have something engraved on it, with some gold and silver inlay (gold and silver on dark bluing and these scales will really compliment each other). Make it a real presentation piece.

Another idea, polish it up nice, then etch a pattern into it and then dark hot blue it, then polish off the blueing except for the etched in pattern, add a dark red or warm anyway (mahogany would be nice) liner.

Some nice file work (filled in with the bluing) would enhance either option.

Very nice! If you want to trade BK16's I have a sabre ground one with your name engraved on it. I will take the plain one off your hands.

D2 sounds good or if you really want to get WILD - S30v. I'm sure you could find someone to do file work on the spine and purty it up a little.

I want to use a stock blade in the sabre ground version.....I am thinking the polish and hot blue is a start or a polish and then titanium nitride ......hmm....work in progess......Old Kraut thinking....Bad smell.....who is burning tires anyway!!!!?????.....

I would say take the stock black finish and beat it like a redheaded stepchild that just slapped your mom. Something about worn coating makes a knife more spectacular with every scar. Maybe it’s the 3rd ID talking but I am a fan of things that are “Not fancy; just tough.”

Would it be possible to get the blade stripped, and polished, then rainbow anodized? With those gorgeous scales the rainbow effect might be really NICE. Or it may look like absolute dog turd.

Dang, those scales look great! Strip it, blue it, maybe some file work.

Better yet, etch a piece of bacon onto the blade :D
