All,

Many of you have seen the very special "Farmcata" knife that I have.

I have spoken with Yangdu and I really want to help the kamis during this difficult time.

These kamis are highly skilled hard working men with families. They can, however, only work when they have the resources they need to do this work. Coal prices and spotty electricity access has put many of these men and their families in jeopardy.

I spent almost a year unemployed in 2010, and I have 5 children. Even with all the difficulties I faced, I fared far better than people in Nepal fare on a daily basis.

Yangdu is willing to take special orders for 10 "Farmcata" knives to help the Kami's and hopefully raise extra money during this difficult time. This is your chance to have your own "Farmcata" knife, and even if it is a stretch, think of the benefit you will provide the kami's who make these fine knives.

I'm not sure what price Yandu would like to charge, but remember these special knives are well worth having and will help the kamis during this crisis. (They may run a couple hundred bucks or so, but that little extra money will help these men so much!) ----Yangdu - please post the price for this special knife.)

Please consider ordering a "Farmcata". Please post your intention in this thread and send Yangdu an email to order. (himimp@aol.com)

Yandgu will not ask for donations, but if you feel led to do so, you can send a donation via Paypal to himimp@aol.com. If 50 people could donate $20 dollars this would greatly help the kamis. She will not ask for this, but I will ask for her. If you can't get yourself a Farmcata, then consider even a few dollars of donation.

Great idea, I was hoping something like this would pop up.

I'll be ordering one if I can scrape up the funds in time.

I'd personally be willing to pay $200 for one if I knew that it would give some extra funds to help the Kamis and their families weather the storm. (A little rationalization goes a long way when it comes to HIKV :))

I'll keep my word, and maybe pay more if the price is higher.
It's a rare, unique and very functional hand-made knife.
Thanks bgz101 for organizing this.

Sweet lookin blade, it reminds me of the blade Rambo forged in the newest movie.

Awesome.

I'll take one. Up to $200. is Sheath included? Just a simple leather one would be fine. Or a regular kukri sheath. Whichever.

I'm game for one, it's for good reasons :)

However I got a pet peeve, don't suppose the design could be changed a bit? Only place I feel could change is the area where your fingers look like it could be squeezed there. My problem is could they grind off less and leave it less narrow? If the finger rests comfortably there then it'll be great :)

Good idea. Gotta do our bit :)

Is there a way to do this bypassing Paypal? Short version of why I don't do Payapl: I got burned on Paypal and it took forever to get straight. Regular credit card is OK by me.

Auntie Yangdu does take credit cards with no problems or worries. she is as honest as they come. Please contact her at HIMIMP@aol.com for instructions on how to purchase with your card and inquire about the farmcata.

Okay guys. I did some poor photoshop work here to adjust the handle the way I'm guessing people would prefer it to be.

Is this a bit closer?

I don't know what Yangdu is able to do with this, but if this design of the handle is preferred, perhaps she can convey that to the kamis.

Looks like we have 4 or maybe 5 ordered. This is a great help.

hopefully we can get some more orders in over the next few days.

bgz101 I'm thinking more in the direction of adding material in the narrow section not taking off stuff. Cause the wood grain is not the best direction to ensure the strength of the wood in that section and don't forget the rivet (which is huge in comparison to the wood in that are) is huge and not much wood left there :)

since they are having a hard time making knives because of the lack of coal and electricity I think i will just send them some money anyway - i will buy a knife later

Great idea and helpful post, thank you bgz101

Thank you for the $50 donation, Bill

Price for the FARMCATA knife is $200.
Shipping cost within USA is $18
Internatonal shipping cost is $35.
Email to himimp@aol.com to order.
Thank you all for your continue supports to HI and kamis

I am in for one. Is there a chance I could get mine at 18"? I really like a little more blade when I can get it.

bought mine. I'd like the same handle that BGZ101 got, not the one he photoshopped. I agree that the wood is thin enough.

2nd purchase from HI today. :)

I love it how we come together to help the Kamis I can't afford 1 of these knives at the moment but I like to donate a little something whenever I purchase a khukuri & recommend that others donate something whenever they purchase a khuk
