The First 200 ????

Help me out here....

I keep hearing about "the First 200" spydies (that happen to be serial numbered) going to a select group of individuals called the Spyderco Collectors....

Is this true? There is such a group that get the first lot of Spyderco's? Are they really called the "Spyderco Collectors?"

How does one get in this group? Are there classes that one must take to become one of the 200?

There some kinda secret hand shake that only these select individual know?

Special rings go with the title? Or is it only "special knives?"

Come on........fess up the info here.......

I think that if you're part of the "collectors club" you are obligated to buy one of every new Spyderco offering. You get assigned a serial number, and you always get that serial number. The plus side is you get hard to find knives. The down side is you have to pay FULL price.

I'm not part of it, so anyone can feel free to correct me...this is just what I remember reading.

Do a search for the threads, you'll get the details and the differing opinions on the club.
Personally I enjoy the challenge of finding numbered knives - ones that I want in the configurations I want (and cheaply) - rather than signing up for every release at full price in spyderedge.

I could be mistaken but I believe the price is between you and your dealer.

You have to go through a Spydy direct dealer.

These guys have so many cuts from opening newly arrived spydies they can hardly tie their own show laces...

The final price is between you and your dealer. The standard config is combo edge if available. You then have the option of purchasing the knife in any other configurations that are available.

This month brought me a Dyad Jr. Lightweight.
