The first four Ang Khola Bowies arrive. Pix.

Hellsbells, Uncle, doing business with people who CAN read and write and who live in your own country is difficult enough.

Uncle Bill,

Well, if the gents who were first in on this design decide to opt out on purchasing one of these, I would certainly like the opportunity.

Thanks, and Email on the way

And to the designers and kamis, I can only echo the previous stated observations, and also say "Thanks!" for the inspired design and execution.

Uncle, anyone yet to suggest a black Ti coating and serrations, tactical-izing it a bit?? *grin*

*ha*

Uncle Bill,

I was joshing about the black/serrations
- I'd just finished perusing the "What is
a tactical knife?" question in the other
topic area

And regarding a comparison between the
AKB and other large fixed blade designs,
there are some interesting comments on
the topic of Busse vs. MD in another
area, and how in many ways these are
different designs though they share
similar execution. 'Course, in the cost
vs. utility/durability area, no contest -
AKB kicks serious butt. And that AKB
blade design is downright handsome with
that great HI finish...

OK, I'm rambling now... I'm out

Nick, everything you mentioned had been suggested or asked for -- no joke!

I don't know much about knives in general and not enough about khukuris so all I can say is that AKB is a very heavy, beefy knife and I don't see how anybody could bend or break it. When we get it exactly the way we want it I think it might well become a regular item.

Stay tuned!

If you mix milk of magnesia with vodka and orange juice do you get a phillips screwdriver?

Khukuri FAQ

It looks like a heavy-duty meat cleaver with a point!

Hell ya!

Not my personal cuppa but it's certainly different.

OK, Yvsa. You can use pine or even balsa if it's available. Don't paint it. I want to paint on the hardening areas which include the last half inch of the tang for hammering purposes. And, I'll put a thong or something through the lanyard hole so they'll understand what we are trying for. I think with a wood prototype we will come very close and may then only have some very fine tuning to get it exactly as we want it. Many thanks for your help.

Not bad for a first attempt though, they do look like sturdy knives.

Been having lots of fun with my aquisition, chopping everything in sight (well almost).

Performance is excellent, once I got the edge the way I like it. Holds up really well too.

Completely chopped up a few good sized Arbutus branches that fell off a neighbours tree during a wind storm. Didn't even have to touch up the edge after.

Somehow these AKBs make me dream of having an Ang Khola COOKING knife someday, with a little soft curves along the spine, and a straight edge with no (or little) belly.

Of course these are bowies it's clear, just guessing cooking knives are much familiar to me than a bowie it's the only reason...

But this idea AKCK sounds attractive to me. If kamis fail to make a fat belly, please tell me.
