This is the first hasiya from BirGorkha. Made and marked by Sanu. Gelbu said make us a couple of hasiyas like you see in your village. Sanu: Absolutely not. I will not make a filthy, nasty hasiya like you see in our village. I would be ashamed to put our logo on it and sign with my mark. But, I will make you a couple of the best hasiyas ever made in Nepal and you can send these to Bena.

Here's the first and I'll have to admit it's the best hasiya I've ever seen. Overall quality typical Sanu. Magic stone mirror finish. It is overall about 11 inches with 4.25 inch handle. Weighs in at about 6 ounces. The edge seems softer than our khukuris and I guess this is for easy field sharpening and since it is not designed to chop down oak trees. I'm guessing somewhere around 53 or 54 Rc. The edge does have a near razor sharpness.

No karda, chakma or scabbard.

For whatever it's worth I "think" the sickle got its name of hasiya because hasnu means to smile or laugh and the shape of the sickle is like a smile or laugh.

Anyway, if you want to be the owner of the first HI hasiya in the world it will cost you $60. I'll be putting up a pix of number two soon. Bigger and horn handle. Made by Sanu.

Call or email if interested.

I want it, but cannot afford it.

I should have just made another post in the first place.

I originally decided to buy, but then realizing that this paycheck has to last 3 weeks, and pay off a credit card, I realized that even $60 is beyond my pitiful means for the time being.

He He He, I am a college student with the first HI sickle...and you guys say yall are on a tight budget?!?
...Mine mine mine!!!! (insert maniacal laughture)

Uncle has made my week.

By the way: Jim...nanny nanny boo boo...I got it before you did!!!

I am forming a list of lil' things that need to be cut down around here. I'll tell you guys how it works (some researching on my own should anger the missing link).

It would be mine, but my car needs tires, and breaks, and an oil change. Plus, I too am a college student.

Now that's a cute little thing!!!!

But sorry Bro, just not up my alley right now, perhaps later on.

It seems to me to be similar to one of the Japanese Martial Art's tool's that was used for harvesting,I think?
Can't recall what it's called.

Funny in a funny sort of way how tool styles that work are all similar the world over, ainnit?

Yvsa.

"VEGETARIAN".............
Indin word for lousy hunter.

Yvsa, you're thinking of a "kama". I only remember because I just saw one over at Kris Cutlery.

While in Japan, I went on a field trip with some co-workers to an authentic "ninja house". Trap doors and false panels like you wouldn't believe. They also had a nice collection of ninja weapons, and this hasiya reminds me of the sickle-and-chain (don't know the Japanese term) weapon they used. I've always thought those were cool, though it's important to remember to hold the sickle and swing the chain, and not the other way 'round.

The sickle and chain are called a (lets see if I can get this right): Kusarigama...I believe. You can get one from http://www.bugei.com but without the chain, just the sickle and weight.

I have no experience using one, but the weight and chain are used for entanglement and disarming while the sickle is for the finishing.

I cannot remember his name, but one guy in Japan used on quite effectively in many dules against other samurai. However, he got his butt kicked in a bamboo forest somewhere. I guess he should of had a kuk.

Wow... Sanu sure did a great job...

Nice grab Dave... that's the way to represent us college students

I would have taken it, but I was up in the canyon shooting a senior session. I have developed a new secret way to monitor UBDOTDs... but I haven't gotten it perfected yet. There must be a way for me to monitor them while I'm gone... hmmm..

ABC,
I am an Management Information Systems major. Everywhere I go all day long has internet access, I even work in a computer lab. On every computer I visit I put BladeForums on the Favorites list.

My problem is I just dont have the cash to get the big K's. However, I usually catch them in time. (One day...one day I will have the cash, then Jim is in trouble.)

SamuraiDave, thanks for the link to bugei.com. I've been wanted some Japanese weapons, but am usually turned off by the low quality. Of course, now I'm turned off by the prices.

Time to save my pennies for a naginata.

Obviously I need to start studying Japanese again. A dictionary search reveals that kusari = chain and kama = sickle.
