The Fourth of July

To those across the pond. Have a good one tomorrow and get those grills burning! Mmm I can taste the smoked bbq brisket goodness!!

And as ever, you may be the cousins who turn up late to every fight, but have always been great brothers-in-arms with us Brits, Anzac's and Commonwealth making sure freedoms and liberties remain constant!

It's nice to read that the Constitution is still greatly appreciated and revered.

Have a great 4th of July everyone!

Stay safe in your celebrations and God bless.

... Silver Queen corn on the Cobb...

Mmmm - love me some Silver Queen, Boss.

This morning I returned a rental car from a business trip yesterday afternoon. I was chatting with the gentlemen who drove me home from the rental car branch. He, among other things, was an air traffic controller for the USAF in Vietnam. He started working as a delivery driver for a national auto parts chain when he returned, worked his way up in the company, and became, I guess, a district manager in Iowa over 140 stores. He retired, decided there was "only so much golfing and fishing one can do before you get bored" and started working as a driver for the rental car place.

It was an honor to meet this veteran who served our country and then lived the "American dream."

Happy 4th, all.

Thanks Ethan. I hope you have a great weekend!

We truly are blessed to live under the Stars and Stripes.
Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves of that.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend.

Happy Fourth Folks! Now get out there and try not to offend anybody.

Happy Fourth of July everyone! Celebrate our country's independence by blowing up a small chunk of it!

Sounds like a damn good time on the ridge, E. Have a good one. I've got to find a grill, lol.

Happy 4th to everybody out there and just remember it is not only fireworks and food but a time to look back and also forward and think ~~ just how many 4th's do we think are ahead for the good ole USA.? Every year we seem to lose more of what we have taken for granted over the years and one day we are going to wake up and realize we should have kept our eyes and minds open as we have sneaky people out there who would like to take those rights away.!**
But for today be happy and have fun and eat your BBQ and whatever and be safe with your Fireworks but most of all ~~ remember what the 4th is all really about.!
Have fun and be careful.

Happy 4th everyone! Got the ribs cooking! We're going to the Durham Bulls game tonight. I'm not a baseball fan and haven't seen a game on years. I must say tho that I do take it for granted and I should be thankful that we have a great team here and a first class stadium that's carrying on a tradition in my fare city that I lovingly refer to as "Dirty Durham". Others say it's the armpit of the RDU area but that's because its has yet to be overrun by uppity *@#% who come in with their HOAs and sign restrictions and every other ridiculous regulations that turn a city into a cookie cutter cracker farm. Durham is rich in history from Tobacco, African American history, jazz and blues, and good ole southern culture. Thanks to all the men and women who keep us safe and allow us to have places like Durham and esp Durham county (out in the country where I reside!)

Happy Independence Day. I hope it is a great day for all of you.

I live really near to the old world Durham city and live right on the border of the first and original Washington!

Here Durham is a nice little historic city!

Well, I hope everyone is home safe and sound, unblown up and sated with the memories of good food, good company and lots of boom, boom........ Oh, and reasonable amounts of the demon rum....... I hope it was grand...

Ethan

I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th. The Warden and myself visited with the Viks in Kansas. A great time was had! Hopefully it can be repeated soon.

Had a couple of house-guests -- had a blast showing them how flat my part of Kansas isn't -- and introducing them to 3 of the local breweries.
next time we'll have to try for 3 or 4 more!
and the best part is that the storms held off while they were here!
