My brain is trying to rationalize owning this, but it seems more like a nifty 'bare frame' folder purchase than a practical EDC item, especially given the length. Thoughts?

I don't like it at all. I gots to have scales. The thought of that knife even in the closed position scares me.

I.....would not use that. That closed position has a bit too much edge for my liking.

Definitely needs scales! You can always pick lightweight materials that don't add much weight. This looks like it is trying for tactiawesome! I have seens some of their knives, and they are cool, wood handled and really good looking, guess I have not seen the whole line-up.

A no go for me as well. Even if I was OK with the knife exposed when closed, a single liner for a handle seems uncomfortable.

There is no freakin way!!
It can't be comfy in hand.
Definitely pass.

Wonder if it can be used like a tabletop guillotine?

This design of knife isn't new, but is becoming more feasible and common as mats and tech improves, evident from the joints. IMO, this knife is more a stylistic rendition of the form, a la Italian, wherein the current emphasis in their design is stylistic rendition of designs. Not sure the history is there as to knives.

Very good looking pieces though and solid build. Excellent styling, average construction, good value.

I'm sure we've all been in the place where we first saw something that looked really nifty to have, but later thought about it and said "eh, I'll pass."

When I first saw the hector my initial reaction was "cool, a bare bones framelock knife!" But this isnt exactly a frame lock is it? More like barebones linerlock?

Anyway, I agree with most of you the practicality for edc is pretty limited. I could maybe see it being used as a compact, lightweight utility folder for overseas deployment - to be attached to molle gear, etc.

Neither.

I like the blade tucked safely inside two scales when I am not using my folder, but maybe that's just me....

That handle when open is gonna feel like you're squeezing uncomfortable.

FOX can make a nice knife but this one seems more of a novelty more than anything else. At least to me anyway. Wouldn't buy one.
