This is a new design I am trying out. I really like the blade functionality of this one. It is a clipped point with a rounded swedge. The spine is a sharp 90deg for scraping. The clipped point makes a very fine tip. There is a generous belly for cutting and skinning. The straight portion of the blade is ideal for feather sticks and detail whittling. It has a fairly high grind but there is still plenty of beef at the cutting edge to keep it tough. Made from 1/8" O1 tool steel. Overall length is 8 3/4" with a 4 3/8" blade. It has a great balance right at the index finger to reduce hand fatigue. This is built to be a user not a safe queen.
The handle material is African bloodwood. Its a good dense wood with a red tint that gives it the name. To set off the color more I put it over some red and white G10 liners. t has a simple 3 pin design. The pins are 1/8" nickel silver. All of this is bonded together with Acraglas epoxy for a strong bond. The handle has a generous round shape that is easy to work with even when hands are cold, wet, or gloved.
It also comes with a wet formed sheath that was custom fitted to this knife. I dyed it to accent the red. the color is called British tan. The sheath is hand sewn and all edges sealed. It rides high on the belt so it can be tucked under a jacket or shirt in bad weather.
