After reading The Frontiersman by Allan Eckert I wanted to make a knife that Simon Kenton or the like would carry as those guys are the original American Buscrafters. I forged it a couple of months ago and just now got around to finishing it. It is forged from 80CRV2. The blade is a little over 5 1/4". It is flat ground with a convex edge. The blade is 3/16" thick directly in front of the handle with a nice distal taper. The tang is slightly tapered as well. The balance point is right at the first pin. Handle is 4 3/8" with stabilized Brazilian Tigerwood that I treated with ferric chloride to give it an antique look. The blade has been etched. The sheath is deer rawhide that I made and lined with 7-8 oz. vegetable tanned leather that is fully welted. It is designed to be worn inside the belt. The stitching on the sheath is dyed linen thread. This knife performs great.
I did not add my maker's mark to the knife to preserve authenticity but it can be added no problem.
$285 shipped within the continental US. Just to let you know, this knife is for sale on another forum as well.
Paypal preferred but other methods accepted. Paypal and email address is michaelpresnellknives@gmail.com
