The gift that keeps on giving

I'm in and thank you!
I don't remember my birthdays much any more but I sure do enjoy the ones with my kids and grandson!!

Happy Birthday!

I don’t have any specific birthday in mind but some of my fondest memories are from when my wife and I first got married. We were both still in college right after high school and everybody told us to wait but we would have none of that. We were POOR! My wife still managed to scrape together enough to get me something and it was always sweet. It hurt a little bit opening a box with $100 hiking boots inside or something similar knowing we probably needed the money elsewhere but she would spend it on me and it felt really good. We aren’t rich or anything now-a-days but we both work and can easily spare the money for gifts now. I don’t think they mean as much now as they did when we had nothing. It was a great time of my life and I wouldn’t trade a single day of the hardest times in our marriage for anything.

I just like singing happy birthday.Even when you don't know the person.
You know when you are out in a club or restaurant and someone starts singing happy birthday to someone in their party. I always join in and usually so do most of the others.
So I'm in.
cheers.

I'm in and thankyou muchly for the chance.
My favourite birthday was when I was turning fourteen or fifteen. We had friends down and we did everything we could think of. Running around in the bush out back, swimming in the ocean and climbing through the rocks, hiking, archery. I had a ball.
But there again it was more about the people than the loot.

Im in! Worth a shot even though I dont have 100+ posts. Best I get posting in the Traditional areas more often!

I'm in and thanks!

The one that came immediately to mind was when I went climbing in Garden of the Gods and dislocated my knee by hyperextending it! (Basically the knee cap rotated around backwards) I fell 6 feet and had to have ambulance called. Not good! Thanks for GAW

The draw has been done.. The winner is...

Meako!

Congratulations mate, pm incoming! Thankyou everyone for your participation.

Congrats, meako, you old spreader of birthday cheer!:thumbup: I hope you enjoy your surprise!
Speaking of which, when will the nature of the winner's prize be revealed??
Generous GAW, RaptureRaptor, and the birthday stories were very interesting, but you can't leave us hanging here with no idea of what meako was lucky enough to win!:D:D:eek:
I hope both you and your grandfather enjoyed superb birthdays that set the tone for a fantastic year ahead!

True to the theme, it'll be up to Meako to reveal the nature of his "present" :)

Thanks for your wishes mate, I had an excellent time and I too hope it sets the time for me. My grandfather passed away a few years ago now, but I appreciate the thought.

How exciting!
Thanks Rap.
I shall reveal all when it arrives over here from the other side of Australia.
