Hey guys thought I'd throw in a little "just for fun" thread here...
And I know someone is gonna say "Dude, Glock makes knives!"... I know this I was just wanting to compare a few of glocks points with a blade maker...
Glock points...
-Mid-range in price for production handgun ($500-$600)
-Plenty of aftermarket accessories (won't be as evident in the knife world)
-Known for its dead on reliability and durability

I was thinking to myself, "What Knife Company shares these same attributes with Glock?"
First ones popped into my head:

Benchmade
Spyderco
Cold Steel

Benchmade seemed the closest, however they seem to be higher-end for production pieces (some of them anyway, at least as far as I'm concerned).

Spyderco relates I think, seeing as how they have Gen 3 and Gen 4 Enduras/Delicas and so forth... but they are primarily all folders...

Cold Steel also relates but more-so b/c of the price, which cold steel has something for everyone. I know there are some haters out there but they do make some good product, Recon 1 is a tough as nails little big folder, and their voyager series is good, and then they have the trailmaster/recon scout fixed blades that I prefer over the Sog offerings.

I donno, what do you guys think?

Becker Knives, or ESEE. ESEE has the after market accessories and such, and Becker has that sweet black finish. Just my opinion though. Both are workhorse knives that will get the job done without breaking the bank.

I have to agree, the Spyderco Endura and Delica share characteristics with a Glock (as would a Benchmade griptillian). Cheap (in a good way), workhorse, reliable, owned by many, great knives to start off a hobby.

I'll also throw in that I think Strider = H&K and CRK = SIG, of course you could probably switch out one or both of those for some 1911 makers like Kimber.

Nice comeback guys... Never thought of becker or esee (although I like both makers)... P.S. What sort of aftermarket stuff can I pick up for my ESEE 5?

As for the sig=crk and the hk=strider, I don't own either CRK or Strider, but I own both Sig and HK firearms... so basically now I'm gonna have to go out and pick up a strider or sebenza lol b/c I love my sigs and my HK

2 points on the kershaw too... although I have only ever owned one Kershaw, I'd never even thought of putting them in there.

I have tried to love Glocks. They have a lot going for them. But they always rub me wrong on the big knuckle at the base of my thumb. I think part of the problem is the increased grip angle (versus a 1911). Another factor is how low the "beavertail" area is compared to a 1911. If not for that I probably would've bought 5-6 Glocks of various flavors.

On that note I vote for Spyderco. They have a lot going for them. But I'm just not a fan of the big hole and the hunchback that usually goes with it. I prefer thumbstuds. <duck and cover>

I was waitin for someone to chime in with Busse...
One thing I like about glock... They offer it in 10mm

Not taking into account actual reliability, fit & finish, etc. Emerson is pretty close - most models are variations of basically one design and focused on being tactical instead of utilitarian, hunting, etc. - just like Glocks.

If BK&T was it's own manufacturer instead of part of Ka-Bar, I would say it fits for sure as far as all models being variations of one basic design.

I would say Victorinox Swiss Army knives.

They are time-proven. They are made simply and to the point at a cost anyone can afford, yet they are not so cheap that quality levels suffer. No flashy extras needed. Just meat and potatoes -perfect functionality.

I have seen Victorinox knives that have endured years of abuse and use, even decades for some.
