The "Glock" of Blade Manufacturers...

I wouldn't say a single knife company is like Glock, because no one makes only one knife in different versions. But for specific models, the Spyderco Delica/Endura is really close. Function over form, polymer frame, light, reliable. And the price range is about equivalent of the Glock's for guns. I figure a folder costs about 1/10 as much as a gun. $50-60 for a Delica/Endura, or $500-$600 for a Glock. Top of the line would be like a Wilson Combat or CRK; $4000 for a Supergrade or $400 for a Sebenza.

Hey guys thought I'd throw in a little "just for fun" thread here...
And I know someone is gonna say "Dude, Glock makes knives!"... I know this I was just wanting to compare a few of glocks points with a blade maker...
Glock points...
-Mid-range in price for production handgun ($500-$600)
-Plenty of aftermarket accessories (won't be as evident in the knife world)
-Known for its dead on reliability and durability

I was thinking to myself, "What Knife Company shares these same attributes with Glock?"
First ones popped into my head:

Benchmade
Spyderco
Cold Steel

Benchmade seemed the closest, however they seem to be higher-end for production pieces (some of them anyway, at least as far as I'm concerned).

Spyderco relates I think, seeing as how they have Gen 3 and Gen 4 Enduras/Delicas and so forth... but they are primarily all folders...

Cold Steel also relates but more-so b/c of the price, which cold steel has something for everyone. I know there are some haters out there but they do make some good product, Recon 1 is a tough as nails little big folder, and their voyager series is good, and then they have the trailmaster/recon scout fixed blades that I prefer over the Sog offerings.

I donno, what do you guys think?

I wouldn't overthink it. You're right on target. Add Kershaw and then mix 'em up according to what you like best. My best Glock type knife would probably be a toss up of the CS large Voyager (not the 2011 model), Recon-1. BM 710, BM 940, Spyderco Military, Spyderco Endura 4 and in no particular order. :)

Oh yeah! There so tactical and when they break and cut off one of your fingers, You can just buy nine more until all of your fingers are gone. I can't find anything wrong with that.

Heh, I take it you don't own a Glock. My 19 performs flawlessly every single time. I would stake my life on that weapon and trust it to work.

Spyderco would be the closest to Glock. Both are percieved to be aesthetically ugly but perform and function very well.

Look at his quote again. He was saying that about Frost and United......not Glock (If I ready his post correctly).

I'd say Busse is more of a H&K type brand seeing as many Busse knives are more expensive than actual Glocks.

id have to say the benchmade griptilians, its light weight, easy to disassemble, and parts are interchangable between models.

On one of the gun boards I frequent someone made a crack about Glocks being ugly, and that the kind of person who would carry one would also be the kind of person who carried a Spyderco. It stuck with me because I was carrying both at the time.

+1. I would also add that Spydercos have a very distinct look to 'em, much like the Glocks that I've seen...

:p

Not to stray from the OP, but would Buck be considered the "Colt" of Blade Manufacturers? It's been around forever and just about everybody has one.

BKT=Glock, here's why. :D

Black everywhere.
Functions everytime.
Ugly, and overbuilt.
Easy on the wallet.

Ethan's go to gun is the Glock, has been for decades.

:D
