So obviously I don't really post much here. In fact I'm mostly just a lurker, but I have to take a second to give credit where credit is due. A few months ago I bought an ESEE 5 and Tops Interceptor and although the ESEE sheaths are pretty good, Tops sheaths really leave a lot to be desired. I decided if I was going to look into getting some custom sheaths I wanted scout carry. I live in a pretty urban area and I like the idea of being able to take a hike and conceal my knife.
I have to be honest, these forums scared me a bit when thinking of getting custom work because although there are plenty of great custom companies, whether it be for a knife or a sheath, there still is plenty of horror stories to go around about people not delivering on their promise.
I started by contacting several kydex benders because I already had a picture in my head of what I wanted. Even contacted a few, and at one point even settled on a bender who just as I was ready to close the deal completely quit answering emails, sadly he is listed under the bad as we speak. So I had to start from square one.
Doing some research led me to Matt at Grizzly outdoors. He didn't have exactly what I was looking for on his website but after a few emails, he assured me he could deliver. Now due to my apprehension, I literally wrote this guy about 18 emails, what can I say sending money off for this kind of thing makes me nervous, esspessially when buying something I can't touch first; but to each one Matt responded quickly and courteously.
I finally sent off some money and my knives and in under 2 weeks on them being with Matt they were back in my hands. Fit and finish we're perfect and just as I was hoping for. As I told Matt and I'll say again.... I'm really not sure I paid him enough money.
