The Good Ole Type Pocket Knife ... LIVES ON?

Folders are great -I have a whole box full some are case stockman's others are Schrade two blade jacks, some are Boy Scouts.. and they all get some play - but my favorite is probably a case 61111/2L that Dad gave me about 50 years ago... we've been through a lot together It is retired.. and a 30 year old Case stag stockman is what gets used or a SAK "tinker" then there's always a SAK classic on my keys !

you blokes who want to keep great knives in "mint" condition amuse me.
What good is a knife you don't dare use ?

Brian, the nice thing about knives is that they can be great just to look at (as if you don't know this already

). If I only bought knives just to use, I would have stopped buying them years ago. I suppose I lean to the utilitarian side but some knives I just buy 'cause I like their looks.

Hoodoo

The low, hoarse purr of the whirling stone—the light-press’d blade,
Diffusing, dropping, sideways-darting, in tiny showers of gold,
Sparkles from the wheel.

Mark;
Nice discussion you inspired, I was begining to think people here were only into combat folders and custom stuff! I'm reassured! I love a Scrade+ Old Timer 3 7/8" Stockman with 2 broken blades! I love the main blade now that it's shorter and a drop point!!! The sheepsfoot is only a 1/2" long and I miss it, but I can't bear to replace the knife!
I carry a one-handed folder alot now, but when I need to strip wire I make sure I have my OLD TIMER!!!

nifrand, ole boy, the swing guards are the best but sadly no one seems to make a good one anymore - SMK had some a year or so ago for about 1C plus ... someone really liked the twin of mine which my dad gave to my son
on the move from JAX to DWF some lowlife mover decided to appropriate it for himself!
I hope he cuts his hand everytime he opens it!
