I have always been a big fan of the 110. The 110 is the best value, buck for Buck, you can find. You can buy a 110, use, abuse and break it, send it back for repair, use it and break it again, and then sell it at a garage sale or to a pawn shop for just about what you paid for it to begin with. The Buck 110 is a free knife, try to do better.

Sorry CJ and Joe but none of these knives I purchased from a Buck dealer. All of these knives were purchased at yard sales or second hand stores.

Note the two from the top both left and right. The second one down on the left is one that I forged a new blade out of O-1 tool steel and replaced the original broken blade (later posted a thread about it right here). The second one down on the right is mutilated and will receive like treatment. I once read that someone took 110's and modified them like this for a deadly "street knife". Any one else ever heard anything like that?

I know some of you have many 110's. Ok lets see who has the most 110's. How many 110's you got?

Joe

You got me beat Jake! Only one of mine is an EDC. A standard finger-groove from 2000 that I picked up on eBay for about $10, after which I sent it back to BUCK to be cleaned and re-sharpened with the Edge 2K process. The rest are in display cases or on stands in my office.

I've got 2 now. The rest of you guys are the reason why Brasso will never go out of business.:)

Don't use Brasso - bought a Jeweler's Polishing Cloth and for real dirty ones, use either White Lightning Metal Brite or if I have to I break out the Dremel and some polishing compound.

Don't come 'round here to look at knives without your sunglasses... :D

Nope, no Brasso here either.... 8 X 1 sewn muslin wheel w/white polishing compound. Other than that just a lil' RemOil on those with Damascus blades.:)

They would be smart to add a clip to the 110 so I could put it in my pocket, maybe to big though :)

What type of steel do they use in a 110 ? The Buck website does not state it!

Yeah, it's a little too heavy for a pocket clip. I love the 110 just like it is. Buck uses 420HC on current 110's.

Perhaps, if they used modern materials they could bring the weight down and increase the strength.

This is all I could fit in the scanner at one time.

Hey Jake,
What are #5 and #8 on the scan? They're interesting. where did you pick those up at?

Thanks,
Alex

Jake -

Nice pixs of some of your 110's. What handle material is on the 5th knife down on the pix? Looks like it would be great for some scrimshaw! I really like that turquoise handle, too!

#5 is smooth white bone, I had it redone. #8 is called blue bone even though it looks grey, Buck did that one in the 80's I think as a limited production. I have another in the works for turquoise too, I just haven't decided what else to put with it.

Jake,
I like the bottom one: Buffalo / BG42? I will have to get me one...:D

Without starting WWII over again :)

With modern materials, lighter and stronger, why do you people consider the 110 to be a modern day high quality knife ?

If seems it's time has come and gone!

Regards,

JB :)

JackBoots -

I don't think "...it's time has come and gone!" The 110 is a quality knife who's time is for years to come! Nothing like the feel of The Buck in your hand with that solid opening click! To tell you the truth (without starting WWII over again) I don't think the modern & lighter materials would enhance the 110's appeal! Maybe it's just me!;)
