I had a slight knife-related accident on Tuesday last week. I was buffing a spot on the spine of a finished chef's knife and fumbled it. The edge fell across the back of my hand and cut through the extensor tendons of my middle & index fingers on my left hand. I didn't even feel the blade hit me, & the cut didn't even bleed for the first few minutes, took me a few seconds to figure out why my fingers wouldn't work. I had surgery on Friday to reattach them and will be in a splint & unable to work for 6-8 weeeks. Thankfully, my disability coverage at work will cover 66% of my income. In the meantime, I have some knives that need to be sold to make up some of the shortfall.

First up is the one that got me. It's my large chef pattern ground from 3/32" CPM D2, 13" overall with an 8" blade, 2 1/8" deep. This blade features my new mark for 2010 and is handled in WSSI stabilized box elder burl laminated to 1/8" black G10 secured with 1/4" stainless corby fasteners. Ht'd and cryoed by me to 61 Rc.

Price: $345 US + shipping

Well that's an excellent recommendation for your knives. "So Sharp, they're Painless".
i like the look of 'Tendon Slicer' but unfortunately i have spent thousands more than any normal person would have, so far this year(2010).
clean cut, properly repaired within the time period you state, will heal to perfect. in part because there is no crush component. you can thank yourself for that part of it !

We can only hope Mr. Proctor. I'm just hoping everything will be up to par for our wedding in April.

Those are beautiful knives. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. I wish you a very speedy recovery. Mend well!

As a "gas passer", i have been involved in many extensor tendon repairs.
always pumped the plastic surgeon to tell me exactly what he was doing and why, so that one day i could post blithe but accurate comments when the internet got invented.

I like your style.

This post will probably get me an infraction for chatting, but so be it.

Well, these ones are still here..... this is the last bump for these. They're on the website for the duration.

Not to be down beat but, tendons heal. The nerves are the little culprits that some times never send signals again. They have a chance of becoming operative out to some few years.Micro sutures are the reconnecting devices.
