The greatest birthday ever!

I went to dinner with the family tonite to celebrate my 44th birthday. All the usual suspects were there. My wife and 9 year old daughter, Mom, my in-laws, my younger sister and her boyfriend etc etc. Anyway, long story short, some great Mexican food and margaritas were had by all and it was what I considered a good birthday.

Towards the end of dinner I received some very nice gifts and a little cash(always a good thing). Lastly my sister, whom I have affectionately called "butthead" for the last 20 years or so handed me a small box and a card. Written in the card were the usual well wishes, and a note saying "dad would've wanted you to have this."
Next month will be the 10th anniversary of his passing.

In the small box was the last knife I remember my father carrying. And now the only one of his I own.

Anyway, sorry about rambling on but I wanted to share with you fine folks the greatest birthday ever. Grant.

That is wonderful that you have your dads knife now and your sister gave it to you. Did you know she had the knife?

Happy birthday.

Dave

What an amazing gift from your sister, and a great remembrance of your father!

Wow! Better than anything she could have gone out and bought. What a great gift!

Happy Birthday, btw!

That's TOTALLY AWESOME!

Happy Birthday! Glad you had a great time and congrats on you coming into possession of such a special pocket knife.

PS: Now we're all wondering I'm sure... Is she still "Butthead"? Or is a new nickname in order??? :)

Happy Birthday, and congratulations :)

Awesome  I remeber when I got my grandfather's knife, shortly after he passed. Still one of the best days of my life, it was his grail knife.

Awesome knife and awesome story. Congrats on the birthday and the heirloom. Whenever I hear somebody call somebody else a butthead I always think of Wayne and Kevin on the Wonder Years.
