The Grendel lives again.

So about a year ago I post pics of my new favorite gun, Ar 15 chambered in 6.5 Grendel. I did some work to it over the winter and finally finished about a week ago. I spent about 20 min getting it sighted in and put three shot in the same hole at 100 yards. I can't wait for a break in the weather so I can start pushing the range back out to 500+. Sorry, forgot to take pictures of the target. I was trying to beat a storm that was moving in.

What length barrel did you go with? I'm thinking about a Grendel and am trying to figure out what the best length would be. I'd like to be able to shoot targets out to 1k, but I'd also like to be able to do a little hunting with it.

Jay I would say that you have a winner with the bottom two groups.

I agree... it tightened up nicely with the last .5 gr of powder... Now I just need to get out and shoot more ;)

At least with knives, you can play with them quietly in your back yard.

Nice rifles, I play with mine in my back yard lol. Walk out of the shop and 100 yards away is my backstop. I've mostly been working on 10mm and 45acp loads lately though. Did shoot a couple of mags through my amd65 the other day, after adding the eotech its a first rate possum popper. I've shot several hogs and coyotes with it too.

I know they are a big problem but sometimes i wish we had hogs and coyotes to hunt. I hate this no hunting season time of year.

Looks like you need to grab your shotgun and pistol and link up with me for some matches!

Glad you're happy with your build. Owning a rifle that you have confidence in is a great feeling. Even better if you built it yourself!

In a heart beat brother. You are right. Just knowing that I can grab that gun and make a good shot at pretty much any range inside of 500 yds (for now) is awesome.

I went with the 18" barrel because of hunting. I was originally thinking of a 20" barrel but didn't think the extra length would translate well into hunting. The 18" is holding groups well so I am happy. maybe next time I will lengthen the barrel out to 20".

Right now it is just the one that came with the lower kit. It is a bit rough but it will work until I can get a geissele trigger in. I know I said it was done but that is the last thing that will go in it (untill I find something else);).

That is what is great about ARs. Just when you think you've got the perfect setup there is something new to add. They are an ever evolving project.

True True...I stocked up on 80% lowers when they were in abundance since they are easy to mill and now its scrounging for uppers that has me scrambling for something new!!!

I know the feeling. I have another lower sitting at home just waiting to be put together. The trouble is trying to figure out what caliber for the upper.
