So, I just got my 550HG. And MAN do I love this knife. Now, I don't want to instantly betray it... but I've already got the bug for the next step up. I LOVE the finger hole, but I don't know if it would be that big of a deal to give it up since the grips open so easily anyways. Gotta love the axis lock.

So, show me some pictures, and tell me why you chose the D2 or S30v over the 154cm for your Griptilian. The 550 HG is the best slicer of all my knives, but I've heard the high grind of the Ritter's is even better.

Should I start pinching pennies?

I think saving for the D2 is worth it. There are other knives in S30V which I think fill the role better than the Ritter, but its a nice looking knife. I have found I can get my 154 and D2 slightly sharper than S30V, but only slightly. Actually the 154 gets hella sharp. Grips are definitely addictive The Mini Grip seems to just fit in the hand perfectly.

Im in love with 154cm for my stainless knives, for me its like my 1095's, perfect.

What's not to like, here is one of my favorite users, the 556 in 440C. That's the Cabela D2 below it. Great little knives and smooth as silk:)

My first Grip was the Ritter Grip - and it is the only Grip that I have now. About a year after I got the Ritter, I had a chance to get the Cabela's Grip in D2, so I went for it. Once I had them side by side, I realised that the D2 Grip just didn't do it for me. The D2 Grip didn't offer anything that the Ritter Grip could not do. The Ritter is an amazing slicer, I have prepared more meals away from home with it than I can count. If I get a chance later, I will post some comparison pics that I took back when I had both of them.

Hard to go wrong with any of them, but the Ritter and D2 Cabelas ones take a great knife to it's max!!!!

All three are in here somewhere! :D

I have both Ritters, standard and mini. I never took folders very seriously until I got my first Grip'. I had loosened up a number of Schrades over the years and mainly carried one all the time but only for the lightest chores. After carrying the standard Ritter exclusively for about three years, and having no need for any other folder, I treated myself to a mini. I still only carry one or the other. My Vics are usually in a bag just in case I need one of the other tools. I would like to get one of the D2 Cabela's but have not, simply because I am so satisfied with the two I have that I know I only "want" it.

Here's the mini. The standard is camera shy.

Here is a limited edition Grip from a defensive small arms training academy in your region.

This knife was selected because the 154 holds a great edge and is easily sharpened in the field. The primary reason it was selected is because of the excellent locking system making it suitable for backcutting which is practiced on a reqular basis. It will cut shavings for fire starting like nobody's business and can easily whittle parts for Treadle or Dead Fall snares. Also there are at least three different deployment options with the axis lock which makes it appealing for what we do.
