The nail file, cuticle pusher, and cleaner blades come in a plethera of shapes, sizes, and configurations. From one of many blades to the singular tool;simple in design to the eloquent.
A well executed blade is a work of art and indispensable to the well groomed man or woman. The design of which showcases the cutlers skill and imagination.
The blades were prevalent at the turn of the century and before on many different patterns of Traditional knives...such as the Dolphin ( shown below), the Orange Blossom, the Lobster, the Congress, and many more.

Show us your works of art !!

Very nice, Gev.
Have you tried looking up the person's name on the handle? A long shot, but maybe...

I have :D I found him on the manifest of the SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse, a German transatlantic ocean liner named after Wilhelm I, German Emperor, the first head of state of the German Empire. On August 13th 1901, Mr. Tinthoff set steam from Bremen to New York via. Cherbourg. He was passenger 342 on the passenger list in a first class cabin.
I wrote a whole story about him and the knife...It's not material suitable for this forum...but i enjoyed the process.

I know you have some blades to share my friend;)

Yes, I do remember the story now, and that you had to pull it. I have a poor memory, but do remember a fascinating tale. Thanks for these cliff notes. :)

Here is an unusual little German made personal care folder with an odd mechanism offered through the Bonsa company. When the blades are closed, a thumbnail pulls back the back lock tab which releases and fires open all four blades. Then you just close and lock in place the ones you don't need at that time.

Now that is one I've never seen....wow ! Your collection always stuns me :)

Thanks Gev, another thing to take pics of  . This is BTW another pet collection I look for, I think it was the Trim Trio knives that the Old Man let me get in the truck stops we stopped at while he was drivin' his truck and trailer. Dad was an owner operator and I went on many road trips during the summer and during breaks from school.

I still have a few and I have one just like this on my M/C keys

He's the reason I have such a love for knives. He's the one who gave me my love of mechanics and the outdoors, both places that put me within' arm's reach of sharpened tools and the right tool for the right job mentality. Never has that been more apparent than in the subset of manicure/personal care knives, thanks for startin' this thread Gev :shakes fist in abject frustration: :smiles at friend who starts good thread:

Before I post my couple of entries I just wanted to mention that there is a great Lobster pattern thread somewhere, I think it's sad that because of photo buckets policy there will now be more broken links than ever but it's certainly worth a look and I'll post a link if someone else doesn't before I do.

Here's a one of mine, a mid 1800s Josef Sziraki Sleeveboard Pearl Lobster, by a renown Hungarian cutler responsible for a lot of the industry in Europe.
