The Grooming Aficionado (Cuticle Pusher, Nail Cleaner, File Blades ,etc.) Traditional Knives

View attachment 728265 I think the most important manicure tool is the curve jaw flush cutting cuticle nipper. It removes skin tags and hang nails at the surface of the skin. These CEM Maniago knives from the 1950's have such a tool.
Those tools are absolutely facinating, tiguy ! I agree the flush cut cuticle nipper is an excellent tool for the well groomed man or woman. You just don't know until you have used a good one. ;) Thanks for sharing these tools and I will keep an eye out for one.

Thanks Gev, another thing to take pics of  . This is BTW another pet collection I look for, I think it was the Trim Trio knives that the Old Man let me get in the truck stops we stopped at while he was drivin' his truck and trailer. Dad was an owner operator and I went on many road trips during the summer and during breaks from school.

I still have a few and I have one just like this on my M/C keys

He's the reason I have such a love for knives. He's the one who gave me my love of mechanics and the outdoors, both places that put me within' arm's reach of sharpened tools and the right tool for the right job mentality. Never has that been more apparent than in the subset of manicure/personal care knives, thanks for startin' this thread Gev :shakes fist in abject frustration: :smiles at friend who starts good thread:

Before I post my couple of entries I just wanted to mention that there is a great Lobster pattern thread somewhere, I think it's sad that because of photo buckets policy there will now be more broken links than ever but it's certainly worth a look and I'll post a link if someone else doesn't before I do.

Here's a one of mine, a mid 1800s Josef Sziraki Sleeveboard Pearl Lobster, by a renown Hungarian cutler responsible for a lot of the industry in Europe.

Ted, the story about riding with your dad and the ensuing passion gave me a big smile ! That's what its all about my friend!! The Sziraki is a true treasure...wow ! The ear wax spoon is soooo cool ! The execution and details on that gem just make an aficionado blush  The style of file blade is my favorite. I'm going to look up Josef;) Thanks so much for a superb contribution !

This pattern was heavily produced before WWI, with a manicure blade to keeps a Sailor's nails spiffy for inspection!
