A little bit of history about this piece. The piece of obsidian that the blade was knapped from was found in Barrow Alaska like 40 years ago by my friend Leroy Beard. He kept the piece waiting all these years to knapp something special with it because it was such a unique piece. He saw a Halibut that I carved out of Walrus Ivory and wanted it. So I gave him the Halibut and some cash and he knapped the blade for me out of this special piece of obsidian. Then approx.3 yrs ago I purchased the antique Inuit piece that the knife is mounted on from a Inuit in Vancover, Washington that was also found in Barrow Alaska. To this day and I have done a ton of research I still do not know what it is except it is very old and is made out of Whale bone probably by the Inuit in a ancient village just outside of Barrow named Ukpiagvik . If anyone on the forums knows what the piece is please let me know. Anyway I tried to form a relation between the obsidian my knife blade is made from and the piece of Whale bone and also my scrimshaw of the Owl symbol. The Owl symbol represents a "Guardian" in the Inuit culture and that"s where my name for the knife came from.By the way I don"t recall ever seeing a "D" guard fighter knife with a obsidian blade and I have looked and looked. So if anyone wants it just say " I"ll take it" and it will be yours. Knife specs are below and thanks in advance for taking a look at one of my very few (4) obsidian knives.

Knife OAL; 9 1/2 inches
Blade: 5 1/2 inches knapped by Leroy Beard out of some beautiful obsidian. Sharp like a razor.
Handle; Fossil Walrus Ivory with my scrimshaw of a Owl symbol. The "D" guard I hand carved out of a piece of black extruded acrylic and wrapped both the guard end and the pommel end with black sinew. Brass Mosaic pin on pommel end.

Thank you also Martin...Yes my friend Leroy has been knapping for 60+ years. He has items all over the USA in galleries, a couple museums and I guess a traveling Indian art show. He is really awesome at his art and I am really proud to put one of his blades on a knife.
