I posted a drawing awhile back for input on a gut hook . From that input here is what I came up with ready to go to Paul Bos to work his magic . Thought I would post again in case there might be some change recommendations .
Thanks all , this is my 1st. gut hook .

Is the cutting edge of the hook beveled the same on both sides? I suspect you'll say yes 'cause you want it nice and keen.

Could the point on the leading edge of the hook be more rounded-over? The whole idea is to not cut/snag anything inside the animal, right?

I don't know doodly about gut-hooks, I'm just asking. :o

Regardless, it looks like a nice knife with or without the hook. I really need to get a counter-sink bit... seems pretty smart.

Your Owly pal, :D

Looks great! I like the gut hook. Seems to me that a lot of people don't like the looks of the gut hook, but they are amazing in the field.

I'm with Mr Terrio, I think the point of the gut hook should be a bit more blunt.

James , now you have caused me another question . The bevel on the hook is only on one side, should it be on both ? is it really necessary ?
I will round out the leading edge some .

I believe the counter sink on both the tang and scales adds for a wider spot for the epoxy to grip the pins and act like a collar around the pins .

Plus it's good for a little insurance against stress risers during heat treat...or so I've been told :D
