The H.E.S.T., a better slicer than it has a right to be...

Yeah! People are concerned with how well it will cut because as is the case with supermodels, thin is in.

Well, I have the standard slice tough beef test. Izula did well and so did the H.E.S.T. Meat is meat.

These are just pics that I have taken that are going to be a part of a larger article in the future on this great little knife.

Cutting, shearing through meat with this thing was just effortless.

Damn it Don, now I am HUNGRY and lunch is like 5 hours away! :(

It does make a nice lil slicer, don't it? Now... what time is that chilli being served? :D

Yummy. Beer included? You might have a stampede of knife nuts heading over.

One Pabst in the fridge left over from the 4th of July. You want that thing? :D

Corona actually goes much better with Chili and other Tex-Mex and Southwestern thangs.

Oh yeah? Go say that at W&SS!! :p

I know, "But it doesn't slice as well as a..." Oh well, what are you going to do? How much "better" can I get than "effortless?"

Some people will always have a reason to take a dump on one knife over another. One of my pet peeves is people that take a dump on Moras. I have never used one and never owned one but enough people that I know and trust swear by them so I know they're good knives. I don't go over there and say, "Yeah, your Mora is POS and you should go buy a H.E.S.T./Izula/Whatever."

It seems that some people's pride of ownership just manifests in "in your face" ways. I dunno. My pride of ownership manifests itself in a couple pictures like those above - a job well done.

Don,
if you would like to try a Mora, as a comparison piece, PM or email me your address and I can send one your way - I have a couple I bought a few years back as replacements, but haven't broken, lost, or given away the one that was my user for many years of historical reenactments yet. Let me know if you want a wood handle or plastic/rubber.

That's very generous of you! Let's hold off until Maryland figures out it's not The Yukon. I can't get to the PO, the Mailman hasn't been here in almost a week now and I have to dig the car out for the third time in 6 days. :D

my Son loves the HEST and he packs it when we go outdoors.....
it is a good knife and I know what I will be making over the weekend..

:D
I understand - my friends in Pa are grumbling about the snow, too.
Whenever you want to try one out, drop me a line.

Sounds like a normal winter day to me... :)

+1 on the Mora compared to the HEST and your thought's on it, I'll even offer to send you a couple (I always have a dozen or so laying around to use as loaners).

Central Maryland just busted all records ever kept - 80 inches of snow in one winter...but winter isn't over yet. Hell, the Blizzard of 1979, that was Feb. 19th I think. We could still have more of this crap back to back.

I like a good snowstorm every winter, let's you know it's winter, but this is nutty. :D

Yup - I was in B-more for the 1/5/96 blizzard. That was fun.
We had a lot of snow for our part of the state in December, but nothing like what you're getting. OTOH, even 6" of snow here turns into 6' drifts...

Wow. I used to live in Annapolis and remember winter being a tame season compared to Minneapolis. We've had some snow and cold, but you have received a ridiculous amount of snow. That chili will keep ya going!
