The Hall of Shame

I looked at some of the Henckles at a gun show where a guy had a table of cutlery. I was not impressed. I don't think any of the German brands are near what they used to be in the 50's. Eye-Brand seems to be the only decent one left.

I'll agree that the German knives aren't what they used to be. I recently purchased two Boker Copperheads (Solingen not their Magnum line made in China) that are quite nice. Fit and finish is better than most knives I own. My Russell Barlow is made by Boker and is well made. The Eye brand Canoe I purchased last week is okay at best and falls into the poorly assembled/shoddy category. My Bulldog Sowbelly is an absolute train wreck. What an overpriced POS! The only German slipjoint I'll consider buying online again is a Boker German made knife. They are some of the least expensive knives I own yet some of the most consistently well made.

Case and Queen are about the only options in the sub $100 range. They are both finished nicer than the German brands.

Or Canal Street.
Or S&M.
Or many Moore Makers.

German (Tree Brand) Bokers are good, but the handles can be plain on the lower priced ones. I haven't looked at any of the stags, etc.

In general I agree about the finish on the other German knives.
