• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

OK - I confess....I've become "hawk-obsessive"

so, all you experienced hawk-aholics - I need your input...please show me the well-trodd path to the wicked edge

Best small carry for in-close personal work (unwanted 2-legged varmits)...?

Best mid-size tactical hawk...cuttin', choppin', breakin', breechin'..?

Best large bad-axe to scare the bee-geebers out of the opposition..?

Best $ value in a tactical hawk...?

Best bang-for-the-buck in 18th-19th hawks (forges turning out the greatest values, in your opinion) ?

Last but not least - most versatile-on-your-belt-around-the-house-out-in- the-wild-hatchet...sharper-than-shite, balanced and tough ?

I'm HUNGRY for HAWKS

Thanks much...

I would start out with the ATC - VTAC they hold up very well. Then you can slowly add more and more.....

Cold Steel, Fort Turner, and H&B Forge.

I have this one by Ft Turner, I recently changed the handle on it to a longer one. This one took a better edge than any other tomahawk I own; it took a scary surgical shaving sharp edge. It's one of my lighter tomahawks but it's one tough sucker. I think the plain 'hawks without a spike or hammer poll are winning me over.

My next Hawk purchases are likely to be one from K5 tactile and a Cold Steel trail hawk.

well I am underway...the MADNESS has begun

Incoming - a Stuart Willis Tomahawk (photo attached)...and a K5 Tactical...

Well, it's a beginning....

Now, still looking for:
1) a versatile belt carry hatchet...(Gransford Mini a decent one?)
2) a big-honkin' Mineral Mountain Battle hatchet...
3) a light/srong personal hawk along the lines of the Seibert Commanche
or Graham Brothers Rawk
4) and last but not least, a Broad Axe...suggestions?

Keep your suggestions coming...sources, makers, forges, dealers...or anything you see browsing to net...

THANKS MUCH!!!!!

Thanks to a terrific ABS Mastersmith, John Horrigan, for this beauty - I'm just finishing the leather/feather embelishment...will be the centerpiece of my collection -

ps - thanks John, for your brothers service to our country - he paid the ultimate price to keep that which we should all be fighting daily to maintain - our FREEDOM!

I think an ATC VTAC fits the description of 2/3 of the things you mentioned...
The rest are served well with a Cold Steel Frontier Hawk...
I have both, and currently feel no need to have others...

Wow - that is a beautiful hawk,

I'm workin' on picking up an emerson Tactical -

What's the hawk on the bottom...?

The top hawk is the ATC VTAC, the bottom hawk is a Cold Steel Frontier Hawk that I customized myself with a finish I invented that I call 'Charcoal Wash' finish...

can ya' clue me in to the process....? or ois it a trade secret???

I have a CS incoming....

I also like the darkened haft - that a custom job too....????

THANKS!

Yo' Glock -

Would you please consider sharing the 'Charcoal Wash' finish method...? I have a CS Norse incoming....

Thanks

Venice Will

HEY! Q's Fire Blackened Haft Method™ beats G17AP's sorry charcoal wash finish! ;)

Brother Q... show us pictures of your 'Fire Blackened Haft Method'...
I'm wondering if it is similar to my 'Fire Blackened SPEAR Method'... :D

BTW, when people start doing typos (G17AP???), it is usually one of 2 things: Anger or Senility...
