Here it is -- the Himalayan Imports Khukuri ring. This ring will be made from silver and gold as indicated by color in pix. Yellow is gold, everything else is silver as you might guess. The emblem will be about 1/2 x 1/2 inch give or take a little as these will be hand crafted like everything else at HI.

These will not be made at BirGorkha -- our kamis are not Sunars. We will probably commission Bura's nephew to do these. I have visited his shop, watched him work, and have seen samples of the jewelry he does and he is our man if he has the time.

I am going to guess $75 each for these but will find out for sure. I am sure the price will not vary $20 either way. We will need various sizes obviously so state your size. Available in ladies sizes, too. Might help making the wife understand affection for HI khukuris.

We had some forumites expressing interest in this so sign on. I am going to try to have them all here before the HI Khukuri Konvention. Any ideas, comments, suggestions always welcome.

Thanks to our graphic artist, Brian Caffrey, who did this rendition in about five minutes.

Oh, I definitely want one of those!
What I have no idea about is my size. Bill, are you looking for standard ring sizes? Are the smiths going to know what those are? Someone once told me I was a 7 1/2 or 8 or somesuch, but I have no idea what the measurement was (not inches, certainly. Dress size?). If you want tape meaure around the finger, that i can handle. let me know what kind of info you need Bill.

Tom

Tom, that's the size we need. Get your size from any jewelery story, even Kmart or Walmart. We are going to send over size models so there will be no mixups -- we hope.

A long time ago, I made a vow not to where jewelry again but this is tempting. I just might an exception. Very striking design.

Only suggestion is maybe make this into a tie clip or necklace pendant as well maybe that would be cheaper?

Not a bad idea, Smoke, but like all our projects I want to get one going before I digress to something else. For now I'll stick with the ring -- and there's a chance this ring could come in for maybe $50 but the gold is real and will be no less than 22 karat.

Bill, to be more accurate it should read "graphically challenged artist" and, in all honesty, it took a bit longer than 5 min. I'm just glad that you feel the pic will adequately communicate your design to the Sunars.

Brian, I'm sure there are those who might do better but I am certainly not one of them and many thanks. You got the job done quickly and well enough for everybody to understand back home.

Put me down for one, too!

And if possible, make it from MB spring steel. I think I'm ready to fight rust on the ring, but any comments, pros and cons are welcome.

We have five takers and that's enough to place an initial order this weekend. We will get this ring made by the fellow who does our kothimoda scabbards. He has helpers who can do the ring. We will need your size and we need half deposit. We have to pay the shop for silver and gold and advance.

Sorry, oi, we need to stick with silver in order not to confuse the makers.

Bill: size 8 1/2
Deposit check will go out Monday.

I know it would be a pain, but could the HI be in Devengari, like on the blades? Too much detail work?

Tom

Nobody is too late. We can add to the order anytime. We have five and we'll get more and this is enough to get the project started.

Who knows? We may make this ring part of the standard HI product line.

I'm interested but like the idea if possible of the HI being in devengari...is this a possibility?
