Hello everybody, I have been wondering the past day or two about the discovery of the leather strop. I know to most people that's sounds odd. You guys are a different story. I for some odd reason want to learn how man came across stropping an edge? I did a Google search and nothing. I did try to search here but found nothing. If this has been previously discussed I apologize. I'm not good with technology at all. Any help boys?

I was there (look up my moniker) . . . it was this OCD cave man dude. He didn't mind a little mud and dust on his legs but just could not STAND having anything on his favorite EDC. He liked the way the sun glinted through the flint and was always wiping it on his leg and holding it up to the light. There happened to be a bunch of diamond dust in the earth in his usual hangouts so that helped.
Wipe, wipe, wipe . . . he was nutty about it . . . couldn't help it.
Everyone noticed he always had the sharpest edge tool thing (his EDC) and one of the tribe was smarter than the rest and began to observe OCD dude and finally came to the conclusion that it must be all this dammed wiping OCD dude was doing.

It wasn't long . . . a thousand years give or take a hunert or two . . . and everyone was smearing mud on their legs and wiping and wiping their edge tools. Of course most couldn't get the hang of it and the first stumbling steps of the knife sharpening business was born . . .

At least that's the way I remember it. Been a while.
