The Hoodlum

I like the sound of that "spring steel" part of the ballyhoo.

It would be nice to buy a knife that's not stainless.

Something a little different.

One thing I know about the video salesman.......he knows how to pick a nice, dried-out, very brittle and splittable hunk of wood.

And he could sell snow to an Eskimo.

Not rust resistant at all, as the addition of chromium (which makes steel resist rust) also makes it brittle, and the idea behind 5160's use in a knife blade is its ability to take abuse. The coating will help protect it, though, and even on the edge that's exposed (and the places where the coating wears off) just making sure that there is no blood or vegetable matter stuck to the blade before you put it away after use will take care of most problems, unless you're working around saltwater.

Yes, indeed.....you just take care of the 5160 and the 5160 will take care of you.

We got along just fine for a couple thousand years or so before stainless steel.

I am going to beg at the BUCK Factory tomorrow to buy a Hoodlum. Then I am going to get my video camera, wet wood and throw it on youtube to show you that this knife can still cut it up like a champ. I will make fire out of that chopped up wet wood. Then i will put that link here for ya:D

I wonder when it will be available and what the online retailers price will be.I think it would be a great blade to keep behind the seat in a pick up truck.
