The Hunt: A simple, elegant folder.

I recently made my first post here on a thread about why we love "knifes"... I love knives because they(can) exist where form meets function. Where engineering marries with art. Too often people invest in useless luxury. Finding the perfect champagne flutes might make a handful of meals feel special... likewise with candlesticks, or even jewelry. Investments should be made in the every day. The perfect car makes running to the post office less a chore. The perfect pen allows one to savor the act of jotting a note... and the perfect knife can do the same for opening an envelope or box. Indulging a desire for something should benefit he who is indulging. Why guild the lily when you can guild the mundane?

That's why I'm here. The hunt for the perfect knife(EDC). I like a small to midsize folder that's simple and elegant. I don't think one truly perfect knife for me exists, so alas, as much as I hate to do so I shall have to buy a few... and I'm looking for suggestions. I like things that are simple and unique at the same time. Whether it's abalone scales or a bit of understated file work on the spine. I don't have any pics at this time but some examples of stuff I've found that l like are:
Antonini's Siciliano knife
Higonokami knives
Christy Company's Companion
Laguioles...
Etc.

I'd like to have a few that are inexpensive as well as a few masterclass pieces.

The first thing that popped in my mind was the LionSteel Tispine. Elegant yet rugged. Or the Mino Kami Japanese Folder from AG Russell

If you like small Cris Reeve knives make a sweet little knife called the Mnandi, the ones in the picture are mammoth bark with damascus blades.

This. ^
Dunt overlook the Case CF Sodbusters. And, check out A. G. Russell.

Interesting. The request is for simple, elegant folders and people come up with filework and damascus....

Here's what I think is simple and elegant in my personal collection:

Check out the William Henry line. They gild with abandon, but the ZDP-189 blades are very functional.

Check out customs from Jason Clark and Les Voorhies for your master class folders.

Simple and elegant.

Here's one that I'm sure even Mr.LX Emergency will agree is what your looking for. It's a Tim Britton Large Avatar and I have it next to a small sebenza for size comparison, Tim's work is exceptional.

I suggest you start browsing the custom slip-joints available. There are a bunch of makers who cross a huge range of pricing, and make knives with amazing skill and beauty (perfect marriage of form and function). I have a T. A. Davison in my pocket right now, and it's a joy to carry and use. Head over to the traditional forum and start looking at pictures--some particular design is sure to strike your fancy.

Cheers,
Daniel

My tastes seem to be more in line with these, thr third and fourth anyway. I also like them to be relatively slender as I'm not fond of a clip.

When I think of Simple and Elegent along with a being something you can really enjoy using for the tasks you have mentioned, I think of CRK Sebenza. For your case, I would recommend the Small. If you want Simple, you can get a plain Ti scaled version. If you want elegent, go for the an exotic inlay and damascus. If you want simple and elegent, pick up a CF inlaid small Sebenza with CF inlays and an insingo blade. **Pic borrowed from Retailer**

THIS...is very nice. It is elegant. However, A.G. Russell review...This knife is one of the premium editions of the knife. The blade is made out of a Cowry-X core with stainless damascus sides.
