The 'I ❤ Nathan' Thread

AN ODE TO CPK KNIVES

You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see

You're everything I hoped for
You're everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me

You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see
You're everything I hoped for
Every, everything I need
You are so beautiful to me

(Now, about those 18k inlays I need)

I love Nathan/Jo/CPK team because of this! I spend all weekend with the BC in hand clearing out Muscadine, briars, and low hanging branches. What a great tool!

Nathan, you have neither been too much fun or funny lately (please no Joe Pesci / Goodfellas scene as I know that off by heart!) ! But I'm giving you a mulligan because it's Blade Show time and that will all happening and hovering, the bevy of CPKs to be prepped and completed, the Special Project et al, saps all the mental funny juices. BUT...

Upon your return and R&R, somebody, probably even maybe yours truly, will have to set you off for a response like this. The all time fave of mine :p

Nathan's take on Bowie knife :D :D :D

Just in case some of you are not aware of Nathan's thread relating to his most recent Dagger in the Custom's subforum:

I thought we give Nathan some more lurve here today on the anniversary of his own subforum before we start piling up on him in the days and weeks to come :P

Isn't there a CPK Kephart on the board? I think that might be the ticket for folks who like 'em 'thin & slicey'.

Decided to address this Q in here plus a commentary because I <3 Nathan thread has been quiet lately, plus I have something relevant to say which is a rarity for me!

Yes, Nathan's interpretation of a Kephart is on the CPK board and I think that it may seriously become a CPK thing in 2020. It's been a while now that I have been somewhat vociferous about lack of a CPK-Slicer, in fact there's a glaring void of this in the CPK lineup due to way too many choppers and big knives projects as of late 2017 and onwards. I am pretty confident that Nathan is taking note and heeding; if not, ought to be. So you ask, where' the luv?

When I go to look at such knives readily available, I don't find anything that would come close to what CPK can do yet I see myself gravitating toward knives in the price range that CPK would possibly offer at a not so distant future, but IMHO I'll easily end up getting at least twice the knife that is commercially available at an online retailer. So if Nathan says, "Matty, don't sweat it, I got this one..." I'm going to wait for CPK :)

Both the Kephart and the DEK1 will be a thinner stock, probably around .145. Neither will be exceptionally thin and slicy, I will probably stick to a fairly typical .015-.020 edge thickness before sharpening but I would entertain the option of doing some ultra-thin ones.

yes

I'll use a mix of African Blackwood (old stock really good black stuff), Cocobolo, and Osage Orange. It will either be a random mix or Jo might ask folks their preference as she comes to them on the list.

I also have some antique paper based phenolic that came out of an old Westinghouse switchgear that I'm going to try to cut up. It tested negative for asbestos. It looks a little like wood.

<3 some Saturday lurve-fest for Nathan <3
