He was a yellow phase Timber Rattler about 5-6' long.

Some awesome photos. Looks like a great area to hike through. Yeah, I always find something thrown on the ground here too, even ten miles in the middle of nowhere sometimes. That is a wierd looking fungus...

thanks for the journey !!! great pictures !!! awesome place for sure !!! there is something about the sound of rushing water that sorta numbs you while you hike.... if there were only a bridge to get to the other side you'd be set :D

thanks. speaking of snakes, we were out mountain biking last saturday and one of my buddies had a minor crash and he said he landed right next to one. the pile of dried leaves are still thick here and i couldn't find it when i got to him a minute later.

thanks, rob! yeah, i want to go back there for an overnighter soon. i'll probably setup far from the gushing water though - it's so loud that'll keep me up all night! then again with all that water nearby, i don't have to pack 5 liters of it but more booze instead :D
