The "I Wish" thread

I wish Rough Rider had the option of 1095 blades on all their knives, with the same quality and at the same price point as their 440 stainless knives.

I wish I could get a GEC 82 in a jack configuration with the California clip main and a sheepsfoot secondary with the nail nick on the same side as the main.

Man that would be awesome in ivory linen micarta with a simple bar shield.

I wish Tony Bose would make me free knives for the rest of my life. And, the other well known knife makers as well, while I'm wishing.

GEC is planning a run of Bull Busters in micarta and wood, I'm hoping/wishing for a bullnose run with some newer handle options.

I wish you could get customized SAKs for a reasonable price. Colored alox should not cost 3 times what silver does.

World Peace? ;)

These are all wishes with which I concur.

Most of my other wishes are things I wish I, rather than knife companies, would do.

I wish I'd improve faster at knife photography and sharpening.

I wish I'd develop more focus/direction in the knives I acquire.

I wish I'd become more skillful in using BF's search capabilities and in locating knives I long for.

I wish I had more time and energy (and maybe even cash) to devote to knife-related pursuits.

I wish I could find some inexpensive used 2-blade large toothpicks and canoes.

Have you considered the Rough Rider, Buck, Colt, (new made) Uncle Henry/Old Timer/Imperial and Marbles large canoes?
New, but inexpensive, nonetheless. I really like my Buck 389 canoe. The Colt is even available with carbon steel blades (I have that one, but have not been home to see it yet)

Thanks for the canoe suggestions, afishhunter. I actually have a Rough Rider canoe that "sparked my passion" for canoes in the first place.

I also have a lockback canoe and a cannitler from RR, both a little smaller than what I consider "standard" size for a canoe. Here's a pic of the cannitler; no current photo of the other lockback canoe.

I read once about you ordering the Buck canoe and I looked it up; with your "testimonial" above, I may have to get one of those wood-handled Bucks. :D
And I just got what I suspect must be the same model Colt canoe you have: G-10 handle, titanium-coated carbon steel blades? When you see it, I think you're gonna love it. I don't have a picture of mine yet, but I think it looks VERY sharp!:thumbup:

I haven't looked at any Taylor-made canoes, only because the Taylor-made 44 OT I have isn't what I hoped it would be; maybe I should give that brand another chance. As you point out, they certainly don't cost much. Don't know anything about current Marbles brand.

So I kinda like getting examples of brand-new inexpensive knives, but I like it even more when I can find old used knives that I can fix up; sort of a nostalgia thing, I guess. If I can buy them pretty cheaply, then even if I make a substantial investment of time to find them and to clean them up, I'm a happy canoe camper!

That GEC would make the #38 in 154cm or a Sandvik 13c26

I wish I could stop buying knives! I've got a Dr T Zulu I'm paying on, a Case damascus Tribal Spear I'm paying on, a Lloyd Zulu I'm getting after I pay for the first two, a Bark River Hudson Bay 2 that I was supposed to get a while ago, a Gossman little Deer Creek (modified Nessmuk, I hate Nessmuks but I love the regular Deer Creek I have, and a stream tributary of Deer Creek runs behind my house and I had to have anything named Deer Creek).

I'm also coming up on Brent Cramers list. I'm chomping at the bit to get a folder from a guy that uses adjustable pivots on his slipjoints, he's on another forum which resembles Keyser Soze's movie and his stuff is all over Facebook. Jim Todd, who has the biggest peanut collecdtion I've ever seen, has gotten me thinking about a custom peanut.

I need to buy a laptop, get a new bed for my Silverado, saving up. Custom knives are crazy addictive!
