The Ideal Multi-Tool Design

just finished the survey but that concept sounds great. Cant wait to see the final project!!

Your idea sounds really good. For a blade steel I like 14c28n, good corrosion resistance and cost-effective. But, you can't really go wrong with 154cm.
Will the file be detachable for sharpening, or even using as a striker for your flint rod?

Keep it up, can't wait to see what you come up with.

Just to give everyone an idea of the basic concept I'm shooting for as of now is a lightweight multi-tool with a frame based around the Leatherman Wave's frame that would be corrosion resistant and have a grippy, high-visibility coating (I'm considering cerakote with rubberized grip inserts). The tool selection will definitely include a blade (154CM/D2/?), a saw, scissors, flint rod, file (most likely diamond for sharpening), and screwdrivers. Everything else is still being drawn up, but there will be at least 15 tools total when all is said and done

Sounds like just another multitool with 12 tools that will never get used, IMHO.

Good luck with your design, nevertheless. I'd love to see pictures of it when you get it made.

Replaceable firesteel & make sure your file has a hook slot in it! That's the one thing leatherman dropped a few years back that they never should've!!!

Outdoor multi-tool... Replace the pliers with shears, or a wire stripper. Those are the two that pop in my head.

I would love to see a decent flashlight built into a full sized multi tool. One that does NOT use button cells, but a common AAA cell. Would love to get one that puts out 50 or more lumens. The only multitool that has this is the Gerber Fit, and it has no pliers. A light like the Fenix LD01 on a multi tool would be great, and you would have a one of a kind multi tool! As far as the other tools, good pliers, blade, scissors, multi bit capable screw driver, and a saw would round up my wish list!
