Well, it's been a long week of waiting, and a long day of driving, but I made it home, press in tow.

Now tomorrow I have to get it unloaded, hack up the electrical to get it plugged in and squash some steel! :D

UPDATE: I couldn't wait, I got the electric hacked together tonight and fired the press on the trailer. Worked great! :D The cable isn't exactly routed in the best way, but I need a second set of hands to pull some stuff through walls and I'm home alone...

Don't you worry, there will be pics from me. :D

I'm trying to play where I'm shuffling various things in the shop to. I think I' know where the press is going, but there will be some "shop tetris" in order to get everything in place. I've also got several sets of dies to make. I think I want to at least get one set of them done tomorrow before I start forging.

The first thing I'm coming up with is about 25 linear feet of low-layer, mixed pattern, really bold, 2" wide steel.

After that, it's game on! :)

P.S. Way to go on spelling my name right...not may folks do ;)

Nice machine!

I laughed out loud at the name thinking of the airship that the boys from south park took to imagination land.

I can't imagine what your mail says hehe, I get Selvetti, Selvati, Salvatu, Selvata......

Get some picture of some hot squishing action! i know you are playing with it tonight.

Whoa, nice, nice, and very nice. Decker, you cannot go wrong with a machine like that.

Hhhmmm :jerkit:, got it fired up on the trailer, mobile, where's the forge, ya need a forge on the trailer too.

Sweet, can't wait to see the steel from that one.

Great score.

Context Sam! Context! That sounds far too suggestive of the wrong things without some CONTEXT!

Good move Deker. You're on the way to mosiacs and twisted W's

You got it Bruce! I've been on the way for a while, now I just don't have to travel to other folks' shops to feed the need. By the way, I'd like you to know that I blame you partially for my addiction Mr. Bump. If you hadn't sent me that little bit of 15n20 a few years ago... ;)

Well, the trailer is galvanized and everybody always told me not to forge anywhere NEAR that stuff. :D Seriously though, I did think about it, and the moon was putting out enough light for it to work....Buuuut, it had been a long day and the dogs had been cooped up while I was gone, so I spent some time with them and then went to bed to dream of damascus patterns...I'm sure I'll be sleep-forging soon enough though....

Who wants to bet I'll be helping to put Kelly and Aldo's kids through college in a big way now? :)

Cool! You are lucky that the thing was already asembled. The guys who moved mine in the crates from my garage to me shop decided they didn't need a hoist and damn near got everyone squashed, myself inlcuded, while putting it together!!!:mad:

Heh...We were supposed to have an unloading party at 11, but through extensive and careful application of a come-along and an engine hoist I'm pleased to say I have the press unloaded and placed...all by myself. :)

I'm pleased to say that there is STILL no single piece of equipment in my shop that can beat me :)

Look, I even swept for the occasion! :D

The only reason the shop looks that clean is that you can't see where I just pushed everything else to the other side of the building ;)

Now I have to feed the dogs and take the trailer back. Then I'll be in ths shop if you need me.

Looks great Deker! Can't wait to see hot action pics (hmmm, context... Damascus). :D

Two Words.

DEKER SMASH! :D

It's hot out there so I'm in side cooling down for a bit. Only one major downer today. I had bought a bunch of steel for making dies with during the week. Didn't check one order. 2 pieces that were supposed to be 2"x3" for the drawing/straightening dies (the one essential set I was going to make today) are 2"x2". Useless.

Sooooo, I'm just kind of fooling around today since the dies that came with the press are kind of useless for me.

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!

I just found a piece of 3/4"x2"x7" 4140 here...I CAN make my dies after all :D

Back out to the shop ;)

Thats cool,
Have fun, its 45 degrees here and I'm headed out to forge right now.
Hot in the shop is just something you will have to get used to, july and august are even more fun.
