The improved SRK concept

My most awaited knife of 2022!

They're also making a magnacut version.

Well I guess Demko just made the upgrades to the SRK I, at least, have wanted. It's coming in a clip point too. EverythiMaybe he'll create a whole line to compete with the classic Cold Steels that still have the rubber handles that don't hold up.

I dont see your point… These are made using the exact same rubber, in the exact same Taiwan factory cold steel uses. So if the cold steel rubber doesn’t hold up according to you (I’ve never had an issue) neither will the demko. These also have an enormous markup. Don’t see how these are meant to compete with cold steels sub $100 fixed blades at all.

Why is this an improved SRK? I've had a CarbonV SRK since 1989, and other versions afterwards up to San Mai. This Demko knife looks very nice and interesting, the sheath is unique, the fallkniven style tang is great.... but it's not an SRK.
This knife hasn;t even been named according to the KC video. I believe the SRK name is limited to the Cold Steel/GSM model.

Cool knife, but like the folders, 150 for an aus10 fixed blade is steep.I like aus10 but dont like to pay a premium for it....

From what I saw in the video I linked, they have a plastic and not rubber handle. I see that as an upgrade because the rubber definitely can get tattered, and a bunch of people on here have talked about how exposure to various routine chemicals (bug spray, etc.) have damaged their rubber handles. I am personally hoping the prices will fall a little bit from where they are right now. I believe what was mentioned was MSRP, and usually the price is quite a bit lower than that. $150 USD for this knife would certainly be excessive.

This model is improved in that it doesn't have the ridiculous ricasso of the older SRKs, or the hollow grind of the current SK-5 ones. Although your SRK might not have the oversized ricasso on my AUS-8 model.

Perhaps I didn't make my point clear, this isn't called The Improved SRK, it's just an improved iteration of the concept of the SRK, which is a solid knife made out of modern materials along a specific conceptual design--overmold handle, good steel, good tang. Offering it in a clip point addresses the traditional SRK design, the drop point is more of a modern rendition of the survival concept, and there is supposedly a third model with a unique design that hasn't been announced. I suspect it's either a tanto or some sort of warncliff design that's increasing in popularity these days.

Either way, no, this is not an SRK. You are right that it could never feasibly be called that. It's an improved version of the concept.

Edited because I failed to italicize the "T" in "The Improved SRK."

Exactly. Perhaps you might want to edit the Thread title as it is rather misleading.

It’s injection molded rubber. Same as the SRK

Demko doesnt markup msrp prices, if the msrp is $150 you will pay $150. For a taiwanese made aus10 steel knife with a rubber handle. Its a horrible value compared to the srk, and pretty much any other knife in the same price range.

If the price remains $150 and the handle is the same as the SRK that's a very obnoxious combination.

Nice design, but $150 is a bit high considering that it doesn't come with a usable sheath.

I'm more than happy to pay 150 for it, if it helps demkos business to grow .

Comparing it to the SRK,seems a bit unfair,as i'm sure CS comissioned much higher numbers.
