The Inkosi Appreciation Thread

The Inkosi has become my go to knife since I got it. While I think the Sebenza has a bit nicer look overall when it comes to the profile and inlays, I like everything about the Inkosi more functionally. Standard double lugs, simpler washer and stop pin setup, no lanyard pin, and the action is a little bit smoother (although I'm sure that varies from knife to knife).

Ok so I finally get to join the cool kids! New to me but no doubt a well loved user. First Impressions are very favorable. Action is very Sebenza like but somehow stronger feeling. The Micarta fills the hand nicely and is much better then all the small 21 Micartas I owned. I can see how this is a lot of folks favorite knife. The difference between the smalls and larges is amazing. I always sold my smalls off as they just didnt fit my lg/xlg hands well, not so with this knife.
I am going to carry this all week and use the hell out of it and if I don’t find any glaring negatives Ill be looking for new one to put into service while this one goes for a spa and into ready reserve as I really like to have spares of favorite gear. Fingers crossed but maybe this what I have been searching for.

I picked up a small inkosi tanto, thought it’d just be a catch and release but it’s a little beefcake! So stout and smooth, not sure if it will knock my small Sebenza out of pocket but I love it

And just like that I’m not a cool kid any more. Put the knife to work this afternoon and it didn’t take long to decide the Zaan is just a better work knife for me.
Something in the inkosi Insingo combo just doesn’t work for me. Great knife just not my knife. I could find nothing about it I liked more the the Umnumzaan and a few I didn’t like as much.
It’s a journey and this was another step.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like? (even though this is the appreciation thread)

Colour me curious as well.
It was really the grip / finger grooves mostly. My natural grip on the knife had me choking up on it. I actually found my index finger trying to nestle into the sharpening choil.
Also it felt unnecessarily thick. Can’t explain that part as I’ve had plenty of Micarta CRK but this felt off.
Again great knife just not one i really like. Maybe I’ll try a PJ someday.

That’s my problem with the Zaan. The lockbar release doesn’t agree with my grip. The finger grooves on the Inkosi fit me like a glove

I agree. The zaan's lil tab on the lock bar was its death for me. Well that it is has the same ergo's as a 2x3....

I’ve owned three sebenza’s and one inkosi. I still have two out of the three sebenza’s. To me, the inkosi inspires confidence in “hard use” and it’s a tank. The sebenza is no slouch but I love it for its simplicity in its design. Enjoy it!

I am so very excited for tomorrows mail call. I have been watching you and you Inkosi for years on here always wishing for one.
I agree Dcdavis Dcdavis and all his posts inspired me to get an Inkosi! Mine has basically kicked everything else out of my pocket at this point. I think CRK needs to start giving Dcdavis Dcdavis a little advertising money! 😂

Haha. I wouldn’t deny a little extra cash

Sorry it didn’t work out C CHNeal but now at least you know. Enjoy that Tanto Zaan, it’s a great worker as well

Thanks. I admit to be disappointed but such is this thing of ours. I had the same finger grove problem with the Glocks and another knife years ago just cant remember which one.
As for the lock bar tab on the zaan I agree it can be a bit of a pain but somehow works for me…

Have a great day.

For sure, I know another guy who loves the Inkosi but can’t get passed the grooves. The one point always digs in his hand no matter what he does. Most people either love them or hate them. Not a whole lot of in between

Hi all, I too love the Inkosi and think it is better than the Sebenza (no disrespect to the Sebenza; I have two 31's, a small and a large). Just got my first Large one recently and love it. But, how come you can't find them new? Sebenzas are findeable. What's up with the scarcity of Inkosis?

I've got 2 coming...
A Large 31 lefty Sebby with a raindrop Damascus blade, and a lefty Small Inkosi in Black Micarta.
Santa Tracker engaged!!

I just picked up a small inkosi! I have a large insingo and DP that i like a lot, very smooth and like the grip. The small on the otherhand I find impossible to open left handed die to the space around the stud not being larger enoughfor my thumb to push it forward. Secondly the action due to the lock bar is very heavy. Its a strong lockup but its putting a lot of pressure on the blade making it very stiff. ( i have already lubed and adjusted the pivot.)

I love the Inkosi. My first venture into this line of CRK was a small plane Jane Inkosi that I beat the hell out of. So much so that people were gasping for air in my review thread. It’s still here somewhere….Not sure if the pictures are still good though. I loved this knife

My second one was a large plane Jane Inkosi….I really enjoyed my time with this one. I also worked the death out of it. I reluctantly sold it and have been having a hard time finding another one since.

Fast forward to today!! I found a user PJ large Inkosi on the exchange! Looks to be sharpened on a worksharp and has a little bit of a wider edge towards the tip. I can live with that. I cannot wait to get it in my hands/pocket and put it to use.
