The Junglas Machete

This is funny to me. Busse Combat has a new Bushwacker Battle Mistress of about the same size and thickness coming out soon. On the Busse forum I referred to the new knife as a machete and caught hell for it. The "experts" all said that all machetes were long, thin, and flexible. They just could not abide the thought of a $350+ machete. As a Busse collector, I'll get one. I'd rather pay that much for a knife that actually works in the bush than those thick heavy ones that are only good for chopping wood. Naturally, I plan on getting the new Junglas machete, too. It will be interesting to compare them. I am betting there is not much difference in actual performance, not counting destruction testing which I don't do. Of course, for serious machete work, I'll take my highly tuned and slightly rusty $6.00 Tramontina 22" machete.

I was just razzin' you. No harm meant in my post ;)

Initially it will only come in black. Maybe colors later on.
I Knew you were just playing. Whatever the contest is, I hope to give it a shot. My wife makes an apple pie that could win the blue ribbon in the state fair (not joking). I wonder how hard it would be to ship a pie.

As a Busse collector, a machete freak, AND a Battle Mistress fanatic, I want a Bushwacker Mistress in the worst way. Can't swing it. There's just no way. I may have to trade into one down the road. But I'll certainly be all over the Junglas!
The real-world performance of the Junglas and Bushwacker Mistress will be very interesting to compare. Like Horn Dog, I'm betting that they're going to be pretty darned similar.

Dude. I am NOT getting married just to enter a contest...NO...If the GF see this idea I'm toast.

I also saw the Busse... It's interesting, almost makes me want to take the jump into that pit of endless collection. For right now though, I'm going to sit at my computer and wait for someone to get the junglas in stock :) been waiting for this since I found out RAT existed.

Dont feel bad. I had to sell my other Mistresses to buy the new thin one. :o

We will concede to Busse that the Mistress in INFI will be much tougher than the 1095 of the Junglas. I want one of the Busse's myself!

I have been in the woods for the last three days so forgive me if this has been stated already.....but....Is there a price point yet? Other than "overpriced machete"....lol

I REALLY hope I get a chance to play with one of those at some point. As a certified machete-head I may weep openly if I don't. :p

The Mistress will be much more corrosion resistant too. :D But in terms of chopping & slicing ability, the Junglas and Bushwacker should be pretty durned close!

No price point yet. But it will be an over-priced machete for sure. What a shame too, won't do as good as job as a 6 buck Tramontina but cost a helluva lot more. There is something wrong with all of our common sense and reason!

^^ There's no such thing as a bad reason to bring more pimped-out machetes into this world, IMHO!

as long as the loss of common sense only applies to the price of our tools or toys we're ok.......

yes, but we all -have- our $6 machetes. We don't have one of these. means we need one, and really want 2. Honestly, I find knives of this size better suited to the good 'ole Norf wuds.

So stop calling it a damn machete, and call it a big knife, and all of a sudden the price is alright.

;)

Jeff, was the final decision made to change the design by canting the blade and dropping the tip?

If common sense and reason were all we were about, a $10 Mora, a $20 Swiss Army knife, and a $6.00 machete would be all we had. The only cure for such excess is poverty. And the way the economy is going, the cheap stuff is looking better every day!

Yes, we canted is slightly forward. Can hardly see the change though but makes it much better.

This will not be the standard sheathing but here is a proto of a survival sheath that we will probably offer as optional:
