The Ka-Bar you Want, Need, Got to have no Matter the Cost

The new dogs head utility. I also would like a vintage mark 2. The older the better. I'm thinking about collecting mil knives. I figure that's a good place to start.

I'm keeping my eyes open for these 3:

1247 KA-BAR Warthog Knife 5-3/8" Carbon Steel Clip Point Blade

1273 KA-BAR KBD1 Knife 7" Carbon Steel Drop Point Blade

1253 KA-BAR Short Black Recurve Knife 5-1/8" Carbon Steel Recurve Blade

Grand total of $143.47 if I bought them before they were discontinued :(

Probably gonna take a few extra pennies now.

Since January 01, there have been 6 1247s sold on fleabay - from $37 to $96.
There has been 1 1273. It went for $67, which is what I paid for mine June 2014.

The elusive 1253 has been in the Witness Protection Plan for the last 3 years - haven't seen a single one on fleabay during that time.

Yeah, I saw all those. No idea how I missed the $37 warthog, got real pissed when I saw that lol. The others were just bad timing and above my budget. I'll snatchem up eventually. The 1253 is very elusive tho...

I'm at about $182 total...not bad IMO!
And I didn't really get to "no matter what the cost"

The 1273 was the last so I stretched a bit but I figured I could justify it by averaging the 3 together lol. So $60 each is pretty good esp considering their condition. No boxes but no major wear.

Several 1247s came up. I tried but most went too high for me until this.

The 1253 was a buy it now, it was prob up for only a couple of hours, heh.
I saw one 1253 after I got mine...dunno if it ever sold. I was listed a second time. I almost snatched it up to strip but it had definite signs of use and cost more than I paid for this one that is practically brand new.

The 1273...never found anywhere...this one popped up so I crossed my fingers and hit bid with 7 seconds left lol.

Not elusive enough!

OK, in the mythical world of "cost is no factor", my first would be pristine examples of the earliest WW2 1219C2 U.S.M.C. fighting/utility knife. Examples of as many of the various ones as I could put my hands on. After that I'd love to include an example of that blade built into a WW2 Stone theater knife.

Thanks guys!
I know its out with the old and in with the new, but these are great blades.
Its too bad more ppl wont have a chance to usem.
Theyll be at the spring gathering
