The Kephart thread

I have the Condor. When I look at it, I wonder why I ever bought it because it isn't attractive at all, but when I go to grab a fixed blade knife, that one gets picked more often than any of the others. It is an excellent working knife that will easily handle a wide range of tasks.

I found I liked mine more after removing the black coating on the blade. For me, the essence of a Kephart is a somewhat klunky, hand-forged look that comes across better with a bare blade. (Mileage may vary....)

need to get me one of those Condor Kephart knives ... and their Nessmuk ... and a Russell Green River "Buffalo Skinner" ... and a ... :hopelessness:

This is a great thread!

I found this gorgeous knife while sharking the Fiddleback Forge Flea Market thread, a two month old Kephart made by Andy Roy and crew down at Fiddleback Forge. Amazing workmanship on this spalted O1 steel blade with Box Elder burl scales. Thanks to wildmanh for making the comfortable HJE dangler sheath and kudos to swonut of Suffolk Metal Works for building such a quality firesteel to match. With all the extra goodies swonut throws in with a firesteel you will be guaranteed to make fire even on a rainy day.
