I used my Kephart today to baton the edges off of a 54" treated 4"x4" post.
I am making a cat climbing-post for my wife's new kittens so I wanted to pare the 4x4 down enough so that I could slip a 4" carpet tube over it. I don't have a plane or a table saw, so I decided to just baton through the task.
I used a plastic dead-blow hammer as my baton and set to the task. The Kephart came out unscathed with no marks on the spine and no damage to the edge whatsoever even though I had to baton through several nasty knots.
Just more proof that you can really count on John's knives.
This is the post after I wrapped it with sisal rope - it is just under 54" tall.
